We can officially say that this is our favorite Jamaican restaurant outside of Jamaica itself. My husband and I went to Baltimore for anniversary year 4 and I wanted to give him a taste of home. I had not idea what to expect but when I saw “Likkle Ochie” style fish on the menu, I thought it would be a positive sign. If you know, you know.
Just so the reader knows, my husband is always apprehensive when it comes to new restaurants and experiences but I always try to keep it fresh by reading menus & reviews first then later going to experience with him. IQ Bar & Grill did NOT let us down. My husband never said “You should have told me to bring my seasoning” this time.
For starters, the aesthetics on the inside was met with black with gold accents; someone wanted to set the tone. The atmosphere was just right, it seemed like the restaurant was just for us that night. There is great seating everywhere (including a private railroad room with a barn door) we choose a big booth in the corner to dine. The Waitress, manager, and bartender each came to greet us and made us feel special.
The drinks were fire. I had the Island time and my husband had the rum punch; Both were very good both in taste, size, and alcohol content. I definitely felt the buzz quickly and it was exactly what was needed. Highly recommended.
For food, we ordered the Shrimp and chicken wings to start. Great starters as it showed my husband that he can really let his guard down and begin to trust. The chicken came out hot. Crispy and sauced on the outside, tender on the inside. Husband gave his nod of approval and ordered his entree. The oxtail with rice & peas & plantain for my husband and the lamb & mashed potatoes for me. I can’t resist lamb, I see it, I get it. We decided to share a portion of the macaroni & cheese.
Food was plated very cleanly with great portion size and a mouth watering aroma. “Let’s goooo” Everything was seasoned to perfection. Not salty, salt to taste, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. No, it wasn’t the liquor talking. Cavatappi & cheese came bubbling hot in a mini iron skillet. Cheesiest Cavatappi & cheese we’ve ever tasted and we’re not mad.
My husband and I continued to enjoy our date together and the staff made sure to set our night off right with celebratory champagne and cheesecake.

Enjoyed my first time at IQ bar & grill! Went on a Tuesday around 4/4:30 for happy hour. They had a deal for tacos so I got a jerk chicken, shrimp and oxtail! Also tried the jerk mac n cheese. Everything was hot, tasted fresh and very tasty! Mango margarita was also pretty good. The staff were friendly and music was a great Caribbean vibe! Definitely will be returning!

10/10! Everything from the moment we stepped in IQ was amazing! We were greeted by McKayla whose energy was great and knowledge of the menu was impressive! My fiance and I both got the run down snapper and it did NOT disappoint! Virgin pineapple ginger juice 10/10. Perfect date night/girls night black owned business!

Food was amazing! Service and ambiance were great. The Sorrel Mimosa was superb!!! The only improvement I would add is the timing of bringing out the drinks and food. It was very scattered. We had an excellent experience at IG Bar thanks to Makayla and Charles. Makayla was attentive, friendly, and made sure we never needed for anything without being intrusive. The food at IQ Bar and Grill was so flavorful and did not take long to arrive to the table. I went for Mother’s Day brunch and ordered from the special Mother’s Day menu, which included stuffed lamb chops. These lamb chops had a crab stuffing which was well seasoned and had little breading. The rice and peas reminded me of island vacations along with the jerk wings which had a nice kick. We also enjoyed how creamy the grits were and the flavorful sauce on the shrimp and grits.I did take away one star because of the portion sizes.
There were 2 options for unlimited mimosas, one of which included all of the different flavors. And our server was amazing, we did not have to wait for refills. She also brought a complimentary glass of champagne once we cleared our check.
The DJ was really good, mixing a combination of R&B and Reggae. He also provided shoutouts and was able to get people up front to dance. I did take away a star for atmosphere, because the music was too loud for the space. Our server was standing at our table and we had trouble hearing each other. It was also hard to hold a conversation with family at the table. I would definitely return to try the dinner menu.
