We ordered one Chicken Biryani (with raita on the side) and one Lamb Korma, which came with a side of basmati rice. The portion sizes were good, but the flavors were far from what we expected.
The Chicken Biryani was honestly awful, nowhere close to actual biryani. The essential spices were missing, so there was no aroma, no depth of flavor, and it tasted more like a simple pulao. On top of that, it had an excessive amount of dry fruits like cashews and raisins, which completely threw off the balance.
The Lamb Korma was slightly better than the biryani, but still not great. Surprisingly, the curry had mustard paste in it; definitely not a typical ingredient for korma. It seemed like it was added to mask the strong lamb smell, but the mustard paste wasn’t prepared well and left a bitter aftertaste. The lamb itself, however, was tender and cooked properly.
Ironically, the best thing we had was the basmati rice on the side. It was perfectly cooked, lightly flavored with ghee, and honestly tasted better than the dishes it came with (if only eating rice alone was an option, lol).
The food also took quite a long time to arrive, so by the time it came out, we were already pretty hungry; which made the disappointment even stronger.
Overall, great ambience and good staff, but the food quality needs major improvement, especially for the price and for dishes that are supposed to be flavorful classics.
We tried Chicken biryani, Chicken Tikka, Chicken 65, Fish Curry, Mixed Veg Curry, Chicken Curry with Garlic Naan and Roti. Unfortunately, the curries were disappointing — the fish curry was overly sweet, the mixed vegetable curry had mostly potatoes and broccoli, and the chicken curry was bland. Chicken biryani was not even close to Indian biryani.
As someone familiar with authentic Indian cuisine, I found it lacking, though it might be enjoyable for visitors looking for a milder, more Westernized version of Indian food.
Overall, it’s okay if you want Indian-style dishes in Moab, but don’t expect traditional flavors.
As someone who loves Indian food, this experience was genuinely heartbreaking. The Naan and Roti were borderline inedible—hard, brittle, and felt more like chewing on stones than fresh bread. To mask the average quality of the curries, they simply overloaded them with raw chili powder rather than balanced spices. To top it off, we waited an eternity for our food, only to be hit with a mandatory 18% service charge. Paying a premium for such poor quality and neglectful service felt like an insult. Save your money and go elsewhere else but do not try Indian food at Indo Grill
I seriously doubt if the chef understands what authentic Indian cuisine is. There was no chili, no turmeric, and no basic Indian spices used in either dish. Stay away from Indo Grill.
Prolly add less colors and some more masala to add flavors
The service was extremely fast and friendly – our food was on the table less than 15 minutes after we ordered it. It is great to have this restaurant in Moab and we look forward to returning.
The unassuming dining room was clean and quiet, with cool music videos playing on the tv. Our host and server was polite and attentive. We ordered Chicken Vindaloo, Paneer Tikka, a basket of naan, yogurt, veggie samosas, and two orders of jasmine rice. The food was comforting, flavorful and delicious. We spent $73.41 including tip.
If I lived in Moab I’d probably eat here all the time.
Where do I begin? The food was terrible, we ordered 3 dishes, 1 chicken, 1 paneer and 1 dal makhni. The base of every curry looked exactly the same (photo). Everything tasted like cardamom because apparently thats the only spice that they know of. The naan and roti were also very thick and tasteless.
This place is not “Indian”. Its not run by Indian staff or chefs. They knowingly serve terrible food as this is the only “Indian” restaurant here and most customers are tourists and aren’t likely going to be back in the area.
On top of all that, they had the audacity to charge 18% gratutity on our table of 2. When I bought it up with the maitre-d, he just pointed me to a line in smallest of fonts at the bottom of the menu saying that they had the right to charge 18% gratutity to any table.
Worst “Indian” food I have had.
