Have been stopping by to either dine in or carryout out for as long as I can remember while raising our family in Villa Park. Now that have been about 40 minutes west for past 11 years we still find ways to get food from there very often. When our daughters were littles – getting food from “George’s” was HIGH on their food preference list.
As they are both grown adults raising their families now, our grandchildren now ask for “George’s”.
One of our daughters lives out of state raising her young family so not able to enjoy as much as we do – during the Christmas holidays a couple years ago she asked if our entire family could meet at “George’s”. We had a wonderful holiday meal together there and felt like we were in George’s home full of Greek hospitality and high quality food. We’ve always felt like family there.
It’s pretty easy to feed a young family of 4 with just the pita plate by adding a couple pitas. The fresh cut fries are absolutely delish too. I personally gravitate to a large salad with chicken – can eat 2 meals from that. Will make sure to get photos of our food next time and update this review as I’m a firm believer in lots of photos.
The quality of the food on their menu is more in line with a nicer Greek restaurant but it’s prepared quickly at Gyros Express.

I have been going here for years and this family-owned restaurant has the most authentic gyros in the Midwest. Every time I am in the area I make it a point to go. Their Greek salads are delicious and nobody beats their French fries! They have homemade pastries that the owner makes which are out of this world! I recommend The Gyros Express in Villa Park to everyone!

First time at Gyro Express. My expectations were high based on social media reviews. I was truly disappointed. I expected best gyro and it was just mediocre. Definitely have had better. My friend had skewer sandwich it wasn’t flavorful and came with no fries. I truly understand inflation, however, prices are extremely high. One gyro sandwich, one skewer sandwich , one order of fries. two medium cokes and Greek lemon soup which was basically salty lemon broth nothing like I’ve had before was $44.00….way over priced for quality and portions. Guess that’s why place was empty. Sorry, it’s my honest review.

I started coming here in 1998 when I moved out this way and always loved the food. I feel bad but please review the menu with prices before you go. I walked in and had ordered for a family of 5 which came to $134. Saganaki was $15 for a small triangle. The chicken plates were $30! Sandwiches were very pricey with no fries. This is basically a grill type place, not a fancy restaurant. I’d recommend driving down the street to Apollo Grill. Food is similar and better priced.
Update since restaurant reply: I was being honest and especially for families that don’t realize what prices they should see. I walked in and didn’t want to be rude and walk out so I paid this time but thanks for the well wishes. We will be down the street.

Heard about it for the longest time, so I finally had to try it to see what all the hype was about. The Gyro was perfect thinly sliced, flavorful and absolutely delicious. And as if that wasn’t enough, I topped it off with some saganaki . Amazing!! I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve already gone back.

This place was recommended by a friend, maybe not anymore, so my expectations were high. Walked into the restaurant and the place was empty. The staff was friendly put the guy was being trained how to cut gyro meat. I got my gyro and the meat was shaved paper thin!! Like I was only getting the char and no meat. I paid $20 for some char gyro without meat. The fries were great

Best gyro around ! Absolutely delicious. I ordered the junior gyro special and upgraded to greek fries… so good! And the junior is just the right size for a lunch, at least for a lady. The guy at the counter was really friendly, mingled w me for a minute while I waited for my food and I got good welcoming vibes from him. The restaurant was very clean w plenty of seating and they also offer gaming in the back room. Won’t be going anywhere else from the area.

Food is delicious! I ordered a gyro with Greek fries , the lamb was tender and flavorful . The guy at the register had excellent customer service, he even gave us complimentary cookies (which also were delicious) . I will definitely be back when I’m in town !

I stopped into this restaurant for a quick bite to eat before an interview. The service was quick and the owner himself was taking orders. I was a little confused about the pricing at first, but he was nice and explained the difference between the meals and directed me to their meal specials so I could get the most bang for my buck. He’s fairly funny and jokes around with me a bit.
The baklava is also made fresh by his wife with adds a nice homey and authentic Greek touch to this restaurant.
The food was also made fresh to order and the portion size was worth the amount I paid for my meal.
High recommend this restaurant!
