Indie may be small, but national eyes have looked our way in recent years. Indie was featured in Travel + Leisure, Time Magazine, GQ and Wake Up with Al Roker. With bold, flavor-rich beans, we make our lattes velvety and artful. Drinks are hand-made to order, expertly prepared every time. Our ALL-DAY MENU has something for everyone, from a hearty bacon, egg and cheddar bagel to our fancier honey fig and goat cheese sandwich. And waffles. Don’t forget the waffles! More than 40 loose leaf teas and a large selection of microbrews. Try a shot of liquor in your coffee, latte, tea or Wisc. hot cider (in season). Enjoy free wifi and a pleasant off-street, tree-covered patio. Last but ABSOLUTELY not least: friendliest service in town! Stop by!

Cozy breakfast & lunch coffee shop offering all-day waffles, Wisconsin microbrews & free events.

I was impressed from the first sip! The coffee here is excellent, with amazing flavors and plenty of options to choose from. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance—bustling with conversation and thoughtful patrons, yet comfortable for settling in. I love the historic charm of the decor, and the staff are genuinely attentive and friendly. This place has quickly become a favorite. Highly recommend!

Drinks, food, customer service, and atmosphere are wonderful! I highly recommend their fig, goat cheese, and honey sandwich!

The price was pretty good for drinks and food items as well. My friend’s latte was only $6 and was 16 ounces (a large mug). The fig, goat cheese, and honey sandwich was only $7.50, and had four pieces!

The Twist (caramel vanilla latte) and the Haight Ashbury (vanilla and real cloves) latte was absolutely delicious. I believe the second latte above is a seasonal item.

The coffee shop was well decorated and was a great environment for studying. Their patio is nice as well. We will definitely be coming back!

I went on a rainy Saturday. The shop was busy and bustling, but the service was still very quick. The indoor area is small and a bit loud all things considered. If you come on a rainy day or a cold day and don’t want to sit outside you might want to have a backup plan for somewhere to sit. The breakfast sandwich I got was fantastic and the coffee was really smooth.

We were in the area, and came in as a family to get some drinks to go. Our kids ordered smoothies which they found were really good, the strawberry banana and the orange mango. We ended up getting some iced coffees to go, and they were good. Coffee’s came pretty quickly. Place had some open seating, but it was pretty full for a Saturday morning. The patio in the back only had a few people, so there was some room back there. The employees were really friendly and helpful.

Second time in a week. Great spot to talk on the outdoor patio. They have waffles all day and lots of other veggie dishes.

One of the coziest coffee shops in town. Check out the back patio when the weather is nice. And the waffles are incredible.

It’s my third time visiting here with my husband. It’s a cozy cafe with good music. This time, we ordered cheesy focaccia melt and ham & havarti sandwich, both of which were good for a light lunch.
One thing that bothered us was parking. Since there’s no parking lot and it is located in busy area, it took us quite a while to find a place for street parking.

Indie Coffee is one of my favorite coffee shops/brunch spots in Madison. I first started coming here in college and I keep coming back because it’s just so good. Great waffles, tasty breakfast sandwiches, and unique seasonal coffees as well!

I work nearby and ordered a muffin/cookie before work. The muffin was basically liquid in the middle, extremely undercooked, and the cookie was sold out. 🙁 the staff is very sweet but the food wasn’t worth the $7 I paid for the one underbaked item I got.

Interesting retro ambience in this coffee place. There was a lag with the service from the staff, probably because of the rush hours. The pancakes taste good although not the best but still worth it. I highly recommend the Focaccia sandwiches, beautifully grilled and has a perfect blend of condiments to the protein. Definitely a one time visit. We ordered the Work waffles and the Cheesy focaccia sandwich.
