India’s Restaurant – Houston
My wife has been coming to India’s Restaurant for over 45 years, and now she’s brought me into the tradition—and I’m glad she did. This place truly stands the test of time.
The afternoon buffet is a favorite of mine, especially the tandoori chicken and butter chicken. The onion salad is crisp and fresh, and the naan comes out hot, straight from a traditional oven, which makes all the difference.
For dinner, my go-to is the spicy lamb vindaloo, paired with fresh rice and naan. Bold, rich flavors done right. There are plenty of other excellent dishes to explore as well, all consistently prepared.
Don’t forget the orange mango dessert—rumored to be the owner’s wife’s recipe. It’s the perfect way to cleanse the palate after all the wonderfully spiced dishes.
The service is always great—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Overall, an excellent dining experience and a Houston classic for a reason.

We are group of four who had come to buffet on Friday. The people look down on their customers and only the blue shirt guy ( idk his name) was attending us. The food is not the real Indian version. The tandoori chicken sucks. Samosa chat is good. No biryani . I am a Telugu ( Indian ). For worst, please don’t waste money on this restaurant. Food and behaviour sucks . They don’t want customers to come .

Always such a pleasure when visiting
Food is delicious, Chai is superb, lamb dishes and spinach paneer are one of the best in H town. Service kind of slow, but always respect and clean. Bathroom are good, clean and on point
Highly recommend, if having small children, use caution, most dishes are spicy hot. I will advise and call beforehand to Inquire about this.

Food was excellent. We had the buffet, which had the spread of the usual Punjabi offerings including saag/palak paneer, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, mutton/lamb/goat curry, kheer, mango mousse
All of it was fresh and very tasty.

The owner is extremely nice and hospitable and came over to chat a couple times. The wait staff was very professional and very easy going. We had a child with a severe egg allergy dining with us and the wait staff host and owner knew all of the ingredients in their food. It was obvious they make things from scratch there. So we dined with ease and peace of mind knowing what to eat and what to avoid for the child.

The restaurant was also very clean and give the retro 80s to 90s feel

It’s obvious why they have been around for 45 years. It’s a Houston staple.

Hands down some of the best Indian food in town. We choose this place for dinner. The waiters are attentive and will help you order if you don’t understand the menu. They always make good suggestions. The owner will stop by your table to make sure that everything is to your liking. Never had a bad meal here. If you crave Indian food, you must give this restaurant a try.
I wanted to add this – my wife lost her Emerald and Diamond ring and was devastated. She realized she may have removed it when she cleaned her hands at our table the night we visited. They give you a wet towel to freshen up before you leave. We called India’s the next morning – a Saturday – and they had found it and put it in the office for safe keeping. In todays world it is important to be able to trust. In our case the person who cleared our table was honest and did the right thing. Again, we thank India’s and their staff !

Best. Restaurant. Ever. Like if this place closed, life might not be worth living anymore. Their buffet has a wide variety of options (each of which is very delicious ) some foods (onion salad for example) are spicy but nothing is too spicy!

After COVID, I noticed many Indian restaurants stopped doing buffets. I recently started working at a company down the street from this establishment and I consider it a blessing as Indian food is arguably my favorite and they have a buffet. The food is always fresh, tasty and filling. They also bring out Naan per your request throughout the meal. I typically come here for lunch once or twice a week. The only reason I probably don’t come here more often is the price as each visit, even with a water and a $1-2 tip will cost about $21. I know we are still going through an inflationary journey but my business sense tells me that even with an increase in commodity prices, when you spread it out among all the people who go to the restaurant and you’re charging them $20-$30, I’m guessing your margins are still pretty healthy. I remember when most Indian buffets around Houston were $16 and that was only a few years ago. Anyways, service is cordial and professional (I even asked one of the waiters if he could provide some stray cats under their delivery van with some water during our summers and he actually did it with ice in the water, too); ample parking; great food. If the price could come down $2 per person, more of my colleagues would come too.

the food was really good, especially the malai kofta! there were also lots of vegetarian options which was good because my family and i don’t eat meat. the servers were very attentive as well and they were always re-pouring the water and asking us if we needed anything! i would highly recommend 🙂

Food was so good and not spicy! I am hooked and will definitely be back again! The chicken pankora is red and looks like it should be spicy, but it was not. It was so full of flavor and crunchy but moist. And the daal! I’ve never liked lentils but these were so good it was nearly my favorite dish in the buffet.

This was a fantastic experience. The menu had a suggested chef specials and a highly suggested chefs specials. They do not disappoint. The food was amazing and so flavorful that we all ate too much. The Naan was light and fluffy. The dishes were bursting with flavor. It was so good.
You will not be disappointed if you choose to dine here. I highly recommend this restaurant
