The food was decent. We ordered two different curries and specifically asked if each curry comes with rice — they said yes. But when the food arrived, they served only one portion of rice, which was disappointing. The rotis were good and well made.
We also ordered Dal Makhni, but it was a bit watery. It would have been better if it was thicker and richer in consistency.
Overall, an okay experience, but there’s definitely room for improvement in service and consistency.
The food was outstanding. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked, the masala sauce was rich and flavorful, the samosas were delicious, and the paneer was excellent. We also tried the masala chai and rice pudding — everything tasted amazing. Every dish was full of flavor and clearly made with care.
The service was also exceptional.
Joban was very friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. The service was top-notch.
We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this restaurant.
We ordered the paneer pakora appetizer for our son, who liked it very much along with a couple of garlic naan slices.
My wife ordered the vegetable korma with the daily rice option. She’s loved it. It wasn’t too creamy, and it was very flavorful with the right amount of spice. She said it may have been the best korma she’s ever had. High praise, indeed!
I ordered the paneer tandoori, which was served on a hot cast iron platter with a bed of onions and green peppers. It was served with a coriander (cilantro) dipping sauce. The paneer was perfectly charred and spiced for great flavor. Check out the pics.
Our server brought us a complimentary rice pudding dessert that my sub devoted l devoured.
The vibe was outstanding, as there were several tables of entertainment journalists present for Kate Hudson’s appearance at the 2026 Santa Barbara Film Festival at the theater down the street from the restaurant.
I highly recommend Indian Tandoori Kingdom for your next Indian meal.
Drinks:
1. Masala chai – okayish
2. Salty lassi – good
Appetizer:
3. Chicken Tikka boneless in starters – sizzler effect was really nice. Flavors – not very spicy. Two different chickens in the starters, the one with is more spicy.
Main course:
4. Malai Kofta: so so good. Highly recommended
5. Dal makhani – neah. Not creamy, negligible salt, big and many pieces of whole rajma. Probably americanized version.
6. Paneer tikka masala – too sweet! For me, it tasted like tomato sauce diluted to make gravy. More americanized.
7. Garlic naan – good
8. Customized chili garlic naan – good.
9. Gulab jamun – to go.
Overall, great experience. When we shared the curry wasn’t good, they removed the charge. We offered a good tip in return. 🙂
While the food was tasty, we’re accustomed to spicy Indian cuisine. The dish we ordered lacked the desired level of spiciness, falling short of our medium to high spice preferences. The Chicken Korma, which was our best dish, came out with a medium level of spiciness, which was enjoyable but could have been spicier. The garlic naan was also delicious.
Another highly recommended dish is the Shrimp Tandoori, which was incredibly flavorful.
Did the butter chicken, Spicy about a #7 heat, but so well balanced!!
The rice was nice and light… but do yourself a favor and get the house made garlic Naan! Some of the best I’ve ever had… super light and pillowy with a perfect crust on the bottom!!!
Do yourself a favor and get here!!!
Crazy, Stupid, Delicious!!
Ps… attentive staff and a very chill vibe!
They were busy with tons of ToGo orders the whole time while I was eating…
The food was made fresh after we ordered. Everything was served on individual metal dishes and the portions were perfect. We all got so full that we later skipped going to dinner that we had originally planned.
Highly recommend this place. We will definitely eat here again on our next visit to State Street in Santa Barbara. Give them a try, I’m confident the dinner menu will be just as good as the lunch menu.
