As a Floridian soaking up the sun in Spain, I stumbled upon Indian Sabor in Calella, Barcelona, and it instantly became my new favorite spot. From the moment I walked in, the vibrant aromas of spices transported me straight to the heart of India, but with a welcoming Mediterranean twist that felt right at home.
The food? Absolutely amazing! I started with the crispy vegetable pakoras, which were perfectly fried and bursting with flavor, dipped in a tangy mint chutney that had just the right kick. For mains, the butter chicken was rich, creamy, and melt-in-your-mouth tender, paired with fluffy garlic naan that I couldn’t stop tearing into. And don’t get me started on the lamb biryani – aromatic rice layered with succulent meat and subtle spices that left me craving seconds. Every dish was fresh, authentic, and portioned generously, making it a feast for both the eyes and the palate.
But here’s the real standout: even though the food was stellar, the service was that much better! The staff were incredibly attentive, warm, and knowledgeable – our server recommended pairings that elevated the meal, checked in without being intrusive, and even shared stories about the ingredients’ origins. It felt like dining with friends rather than at a restaurant. In a busy tourist town like Calella, this level of genuine hospitality is rare and truly made the evening unforgettable.

The Sabor Indian restaurant is excellent. I had the lamb madras and my wife had the butter chicken. The rice dishes are huge easy to share for two people. I can thoroughly recommend both these dishes. The food here is amazing with a lot of thought gone into the recipe. My lamb had cloves and cardamom plus curry leaves. The flavours were amazing, and so was the surrounding. This restaurant is very family friendly with a play area for the children. My only very small criticism was that the gents toilet could do with a deep clean and refresh. However this did not in any way affect my lovely experience the next time we are in Calella we will definitely be back.

This is not good, I had the lamb madras, lamb was cut fine and not properly seasoned before cooking. Food was very oily… walking heart attack. Pressured at the end to leave a good review by the staff member. I guess this is why they are so highly rated. Butter chicken was very flavourless and oily also.

The food was delicious and the service was great. The lamb tasted like lamb should taste and was very tender. My wife had the eggplant dish and my niece had a tikka masala. They both said the food was excellent. We will be back again.

Back in Calella again. Same great service with a smile. I had curry prawns and palak paneer. The palak was delicious. The prawns were a tad salty but were perfect with the naan. A watch out for Americans – the portions aren’t super sized like most American restaurants.

We ate here as a family of 4, very tasty food, the palak panner was delicious and lots of panner in the dish (more than back home in England)
