The buffet had:
* Two types of rice
* Naan
* Mixed vegetable pakora
* Chicken tikka masala
* Chicken curry
* Achari chicken (I think)
* Paneer kadhi
* Kheer
* A table full of sauces and accompaniments
Everything was great. I wasn’t a big fan of the chicken curry, but that’s just personal taste and I still finished what I took. The naan was so good I could have made a meal out of it by itself. They also had a mango chutney that went really well with the chicken.
Nothing on the buffet was “hot” spicy by default, but there were plenty of peppers and sauces so you can make your plate as spicy as you like. The restaurant was very clean, it smelled amazing, and the staff were kind and welcoming. Overall, it was a fantastic first experience with Indian food.
I would mainly come for biryani (I go to different Indian restaurants for different dishes since they each have their strengths and weaknesses), and it would be good for a while, but eventually issues would just keep happening until I couldn’t take it. Usually it would be the food tasting stale and old, sometimes feeling a bit queezy afterward but not enough to be sure. They consistently lower the spice level if you are white or sound white on the phone. These issues would continue to frustrate me over time and then I would stop coming for a while, it just isn’t worth it for the price, but then I would get a craving I couldn’t beat and give them another chance.
The final nail in the coffin was the attitude and entitlement of who I presume to be the owner (given that I asked for them). I had figured out a simple modification to solve the issue of the subpar chicken pieces in their chicken biryani by substituting it with the chicken 65 chicken and all was well for a while. The problem came today when I ordered it as take out (I even mentioned “same as usual” which the employee on the phone understood and remembered), and what I got was almost completely flavorless rice with chicken 65 on top. No masala, no fried onion, nothing that makes it good.
I called them to try and figure out if there was a misunderstanding that lead to that mistake. I ended up asking for the owner, and he decided that yelling about it was a proper way to handle the situation. He first tried to claim that I ordered chicken 65 biryani and not special Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani, but it was literally written on the box and the receipt. He then switched gears and started yelling and claiming that they don’t do special orders, despite me doing it before and it never being an issue and never receiving any pushback. He kept yelling and saying not to do modifications and demanding to just order again (to still not give me what I ordered). He was dismissive, rude, and did nothing to resolve the issue and denied a refund or exchange. I will not be giving them another chance.
This reaction combined with how they seem to intentionally lower the spice level if you sound white (I actually tested this with an Indian friend) shows that the owner has a serious attitude problem and does not respect customers. They can’t even deliver good food consistently to match, and I am quite upset about paying so much for just some almost entirely flavorless rice and a couple small pieces of chicken that cost them a few dollars at most to make. All of this is consistent with the experiences of other people I have talked to.
Would not recommend rolling the dice on this place, there are several other places in town that are more deserving of your money.
We’ve visited a few different Indian places in Huntsville and this one is by FAR and away the best we’ve tried!
The Chicken Tikka Masala and Madras were amazing! The food came out much more quickly than expected and honestly the flavors were superb.
Will definitely visit here again!
The first time we came to this location it was owned by someone else, and I wasn’t fond of the food. That was in 2016 maybe?? But husband reassured me it was not the same, and it really wasn’t!!
We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala medium spicy and Lamb Vindaloo spicy, Peshwari Nann, and a appetizer that was cauliflower with a spicy red sauce ( I can’t remember the name)
First let me just say.. their basmati rice was amazing. I don’t know what they did different. I don’t know how they made it, but it was amazingly good. My husband is Asian and we eat a lot of rice and spicy food.
He said that this restaurant was perfect for adding the HEAT that he has been searching for all over this city.
The Chicken Tikka Masala was so creamy and the chicken was fresh and not dried out! I can say that in the 6 states we have lived in this is the best one I’ve ever had.
Now for the Peshwari Nann the flavor was great, I just wish the fruit nut mixture was more of a spread on the inside and not such large pieces thrown between the nann. It was so delicious, I just am a texture eater and would have preferred them smaller.
The service was quick, and the server we had was friendly and helpful.
