As vegetarians/vegans, it’s generally difficult to impossible to find (quick) ethnic food that fills this category. Thus said, India Grill hits the spot! Can’t believe we’ve been in MT for 5+ years and haven’t eaten here. Definitely now one of our new fave ethnic restaurants to hit when in Missoula. Thank you!

The food is excellent (wonderfully flavorful but with options for those who can’t do really spicy) and the service is fantastic. The menu changes a little every time I come in, but I’ve always been impressed with what I order. Price is very reasonable; would recommend to any and all!! I wish I had a picture of the food to post…Generous portions and great variety. One of my favorite spots in Missoula!(They also surprised me with birthday goodies when I came in to celebrate with a friend!)

Excellent food and service. I have been asked numerous times by the owner how I am enjoying my meal, which makes me feel very valued and appreciated as a customer. The lamb is TO DIE FOR, definitely not to be missed when its on the menu.
Not a huge fan of the service method on metal trays, but its worth it for the best authentic Indian food in town. Great for vegetarians, too!

Second attempt (4 months later):

Food was vastly improved over first time, I feel like $12 is now fair for the quality and quantity of food received. The service was also among the best in Missoula. Quantities of meat in the curry are still lacking but for $1 more than veggies I have no complaints.

Original review (4 months prior to current review):

Sub par for $12 a metal tray of food. I ordered the meat one with goat meat, chunks of meat were outnumbered by large chunks of bone 2:1. Quality of the curry was mediocre at best, it’s very lacking in flavor. The rice was by far the most flavorful part of the meal but I can’t pay $12 for 2 scoops of rice.

I would put the quality of this food a small step above the food zoo on campus. I’m giving it 2 stars as i did not get sick.

After living in the Missoula area for 10 years, we FINALLY have some good Indian food! The taste is spot on and reminds me of trips up to Devon St. in Chicago.

The business model they use is unique, probably a side effect of starting up as a food truck. It isn’t a buffet (even though it looks like one) it is more of a cafeteria-style food house. You pick Vegetarian or Meat meal, and then you can make a couple of choices for what goes on your tray. Very simple, and very fast.

Food: okay food, they don’t do buffet. They have veggie and non-veg combo. More like quick food. The food was little bland.
Ambience: Okay, good amount of seating. May not be suitable for group of 5 or more.
Service: very fast, although it was relatively free when I tried.
Location: In downtown, decent parking space behind the restaurant.

Visited while passing by Missoula.
Food:
Poor taste. Fairly bland. Maybe someone with a western palette might like it. But I wouldn’t recommend it.
Was Cold. Buffet style and served in a plate.
2 curries 1 chicken tandoori leg piece.

Plates and water tumblers were kind of dirty with a thick film on them.

The place is fairly new. But cleanliness is ordinary.

Would not recommend it to my friends.

Great food! Rajul was friendly and helped us decide what to get since we were sharing. The metal cafeteria plate was great because you could try multiple things on on plate without it running together. Would definitely go back here when we are in the area.

This was our first time here and definitely won’t be our last. The servings are huge and you get to try a variety of food! The naan was out when we got our food but they brought it to our table when it was ready. The outdoor seating is small and made it difficult to get around others with the large trays. The food was awesome!

Very friendly staff that cares deeply about their food and making their customers happy. Owned by a local family that has lived here for 16 years. The food was absolutely amazing and we will defiantly be going back. Best Indian food in Missoula hands down.
