The restaurant is neatly decorated and very clean. I was immediately greeted and shown a table with a smile. And that smile lasted all night long. They have a nice bar with a fun list of cocktails with an Indian twist. Their Miss Margarita…. O imma dream about her tonight!
Their food has great flavors and you can tweek it with extra spices if you wish, as they make it easy to eat and not so spicy. That way the food can be eaten and shared by everyone! The samosas are made from scratch and you can tell they haven’t been frozen for months. These are a must! Also the butter chicken pot pie is so delicious and fun in its presentation, another must! Their plates are generous portions and beautifully plated. We ate all we could but had to try their dessert! Please make sure you save space because the flavor of their saffron kulfi is outta this world!
I chose the Hibiscus Mint Cooler as my drink and the Chicken Tikka Masala bowl as my entree. The food was nicely plated. The drink was pretty good more on the sweet side. It was pretty concentrated and couldn’t taste the mint, though. I did finish it!
The chicken Tikka bowl was a decent size that came with rice, chicken, grilled cauliflower, and green beans. The green beans I got were old and woody. It was the off-green brownish color while others had fresh, vibrant green, perfectly grilled green beans. I was jealous because I wanted to eat them, but mine was bad. The chicken was a bit dry and didn’t help; there wasn’t enough sauce to keep me from tasting the dryness. The food execution could use some work, or maybe I was one of the unlucky who got dry chicken and old green beans.
I gave 4 stars despite the food falling short, but the event was lovely! Nice decor. The place was clean. Very nice and courteous staff. The service was fantastic. The owner was so enthusiastic! Able to speak with the owner and hear the ideas he would like to implement down the road. There is more to come!
Do street parking and take a little walk. You could save yourself some bucks!
It was cool they had a weekly classic car drive-by happening as we were wrapping up the event. Beautiful pristine classic cars from the 60-70s? It was a treat to see!
They are always empty at lunch and dinner, now I see the problem up close.
How do they stay open? Is this just to show an income loss on their accounting books?
As a business, in a heavy tourist area during the height of summer, it is a bad representation of Downtown Huntington Beach and the most popular tourist area of Main Street.
I’m local to this area, but haven’t tried it, so I wanted to give them a chance, but did not feel welcome in their restaurant at all because of using the app they have subscribed to for daily local deals.
Too many staff sitting around on their phones, and one staff person right at the register picking his fingernails in view of where customers would eat, which was disturbing (Well, if they had any customers, which they did not during the dinner hour 5:30-6pm)! Did not wash his hands as far as I could tell. Very depressing staff and vibe.
Any other business would be a better fit for this location than the unpleasant experience I had here. I cannot understand why they are still operating, and hope the city or building landlords will give them the boot.
Yuck! I’m not excited to give them a second chance to do better, and hope the owners take care of this problem.
I cannot wait until I’m back in Huntington Beach so I can try more from this place place.
Overall, while I have not tried much from this place, the chicken marsala is top notch
I also had a bowl of lentil soup. The soup was bland. For me it lacked any flavor interest. The poor appearance of this dish didn’t help. A yellowish tan soup in a beige bowl with no garnish. Also adding a dish beneath the soup bowl would have added a bit of class for no additional cost.
I was there around 1:30 p.m. on a beautiful Sunday afternoon when the rest of Main Street was crowded, this restaurant had only two other patrons.
Con: there were only 5 small tables during lunch time, we got there at 1pm, and waited for 30 mins to get our food. The houseboat fish curry is ok, only 2 pieces of fish but costs almost $19. And a fly decided to die right on our plate !!!!
We see 2 $$ in the yelp. All the food you can see in the picture for lunch on Weekday for 2 people costs $50 , and it’s totally not 2$$. It should be corrected to 3$$$.
