They are ROBBING THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!! DON’T GO. The problem is the food is seasoned pretty good. I can see they bought the recipe from the old owner. HOWEVER as you can see in the picture that shrimp is what they are selling as a JUMBO SHRIMP!!! When I went back in to question them about it all of the sudden NOBODY spoke ENGLISH. Don’t spend your money with a place that won’t even try and make it right!!! And who gives you a lime with your fish.

First time here and i will say they give the HEALTHIEST fillet portions I’ve seen in a looong time! BUT if you don’t order jumbo shrimp you’ll be pissed off. The regular shrimp are so tiny.

Overall everything was seasoned well. Fried to perfection and my catfish was so juicy. I didn’t care for the fries but that’s just me I’m not a fry person.

Hush puppies were good. Bread nice and soft! And the tartar sauce is definitely home made.

Don’t forget to ask for extra hot sauce (THEY WILL ONLY GIVE YOU 1) and if you hate pickles (like me) don’t forget to tell them you don’t want them.

4 stars is for the small shrimp, pickles, and the 1 piece of a piece of a PIECE of lemon they gave me lol

But i would recommend and be back.

Fish is always fresh and fried to perfection. No complaints besides the fact they never have lemon. Just some tiny limes. Fish needs LEMON. Deff call ahead if you can.

WHOA~! This is it! I have finally found the ultimate place for satisfying my fried food cravings. I went the whole nine yards and tried their fried oysters, shrimp, red snapper, catfish, sole filet, and a basket of fries well done. The food was piping hot, crispy, and bursting with flavor. No other fish market can match the quality, freshness, and perfectly battered deep fried deliciousness of Imperial Fish Market.

Some like their fish others don’t. Here is my take. To me the prices are a little high for what you get. The fish needs a better, more prominent seasoning combination. And the size of the 10 pcs fillet of sole averaged about 2-3in. To put that in perspective with no photos, 2 hush puppies. The “medium shrimp” in their shrimp are actually small. And the large are medium. I know it sounds bad but…order them and see. All and all I won’t go back for myself. I have had better for the same price. I have also gotten more for less at other “local” fish markets.

I went here after some people claim this to be the best fry fish in LA. I am not sure if I went on a bad day or time but I dont agree with the ones who referred.
Service: 1st off i am a 1st time customer. I was charged for the wrong order and too tired to notice the error as other items was added to my request. I requested 20 pieces of fish and some how the cashier lady heard #35( 12 fish, med shrimps, jar of oysters…I don’t like oysters so no way I would’ve ordered this). I called to inform them of the mistake but she was adamant that i said #35, I understand it’s hard out here and you want to keep your job, but this is my 1st and last, I’m not arguing with nobody over food, I’m just going to leave a review. A cashier should clearify orders, not assume them because 35 don’t sound like 20. The oriental man calling out the numbers and over seeing the workers (perhaps the owner)was nice, friendly and honest.
Area:
Located at the corner of imperial and Broadway. Fair parking. Handicap friendly. Next to a nicely stocked and clean liquor store. Newly remodel building. Area free of debris and odor. Lots of customers trafficking in and out. Customers wait in parking area for food as the inside of the restaurant is only standing room with limited space, no dine in.
Food:
Straight to it… the Fish was way too SALTY. It was a lingering salty taste like msg ( i do not know if MSG was actually used but it just taste similar as the flavor was very simple but over salted).Sole was cut very thin, golden colored fry, bite was crunchy but I got crispy greasy batter bite because filet was so thin. The Snapper was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, nicely cut, perfect bite, and a few small bones was to be expected. The shrimp was fried hard, so hard my gums hurt, jaws are sore and the roof of my mouth is scratched up; I chewed 3 pieces hoping the next one would be better but they were all the same. The French fries was sad. I’m not sure what went wrong but the fries weren’t crispy but taste and look burnt, perhaps the oil needed to be changed. The hush puppies was bland tasting, need more scallion and herbs, they had a nice crunchy outside. Lemon cake and socket to me cake was soft fluffy and taste fresh. The tarter sauce is a 10/10, it wasn’t that packet stuff, it was homemade, enhanced the flavor of snapper and package in sauce containers. Nobody ate the oysters so can’t say anything about taste but, they smelled good, nice golden color and large in size.

Overall, I could not feed my younger family the fish because of the salt content. The older family members refuse to eat the fish after tasting it, “too salty”(I did not mention anything to them just to see if it was just my taste buds ) and youngins’ didn’t eat the fries either.

Imperial isn’t about fresh catch or fancy plating — it’s Southern fried seafood, plain and simple. The fish is crispy, the shrimp hits the spot, and the portions are satisfactory (not huge, not skimpy). Prices are fair, and it’s exactly the kind of food you crave when only fried will do.

That said, timing matters. This is a “swing by for lunch or an early dinner” kind of spot. After 5:30pm? Let’s just say your fish won’t be the only thing fried.

Delicious fish here and great service. I have been a regular customer for many years.
I don’t mind making the commute here as the fish is that good to me compared to other places. The remodel to the lot/complex was done very nice and looks good.
