We came here on a Thursday night, and although we made reservations, I believe it wasn’t required, as there were a few available tables.

The space feels like a hotel bar/lounge. The entrance has a step down, which you have to be careful about. Then they have 1 or 2 nice painting on the wall, but besides that, the atmosphere lacks any sort of personality.

We ordered meatballs for appetizers and they were pretty good. Right texture, and well balanced flavors with the marinara sauce and the ricotta.

The main dishes, however, were a bit disappointing. The pork milanese had no season, and the pasta that accompanied was soaked in oil. So much that it was not possible to finish.

The other entree was ravioli. The pasta was fresh, but very thick and heavy. The filling was good, but overall, it was just ok.

We paid about $80 (1 appetizers, 2 entrees) no drinks.
Given the dining experience, I am convinced that it was not a good value.

My wife and I came here for the Clayton restaurant week special, and I’m so glad we found this place! We will definitely be back.

Every course of our food was delicious and the pacing was absolutely perfect. Our server ensured that each course arrived at the perfect time, all while providing excellent (!!!) wine recommendations and not lingering a moment longer than necessary so we could enjoy each others company. Some of the better restaurant ambiance in the STL area too—sexy and sophisticated while still being inviting. No notes.

Dined on the patio for dinner. Food was lovely. We had the zucchini, veal meatballs, pizza, sea bass, and ravioli. Lovely server and the restaurant was very accommodating to our late reservation request.

To sum up our evening at Il Palato in one word I would have to to say “wow“. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm and intimate atmosphere. I always feel frustrated in restaurants when I struggle to hear the people at my table talking. The noise level was well controlled, which is a rare treat. The service was top-notch. Our waiter was an absolute gentleman and was perfect in his timing and approach. There were separate servers for water and runners from the kitchen for the food. Nothing sitting under a warmer in this restaurant. Even the water tasted like it was perfectly filtered. (I’m a water snob and don’t drink tap water) It was served chilled with no ice. Who knew you could take a glass of water up a notch! The restaurant manager made sure to say hi to every patron and paid meticulous attention to the flow of the evening. All this and I haven’t even started on how amazing the food tasted. I got the halibut and I absolutely cannot recommend it highly enough. Extensive wine collection to indulge even the most refined palette. This restaurant fell in the category of fine dining, but I felt the prices were reasonable given the quality and atmosphere we enjoyed. I definitely have paid more at other restaurants and not had nearly as good of an experience. I’d give 10 stars if I could and I am definitely a picky foodie. Fabulous find and a memorable evening! Thank you Il Palato!

I was so wrapped up in our elegant evening. I neglected to take any pictures. I guess I’ll have to go back. I promise to edit my review and add some images to try to give justice to this wonderful Clayton find.

I was there for Clayton restaurant week. It’s really cute restaurant! I had 4 course meal. It was really busy night so we sat down for almost 25 min until waiter come and get our drink order. But it was a busy night and he was really nice. I really liked first course (appetizer) and second one(salad) – I don’t have pictures – but the main course was way too salty 🙁 I usually eat pretty salty and I couldn’t really taste any flavor but saltiness. I would love to try them next time when it’s not too busy.

The place is beautiful. Our waiter, Vinny was wonderful and knowledgeable. Here’s where things go downhill. I eat gluten free for medical reasons and the menu is extremely limited on options, which I’m used to, so that is not my complaint. I ordered an $8 salad and added on chicken, for protein, since it was my meal. The salad was very basic, nothing fancy, actually just mostly spinach. I get the bill and see that my $8 salad was now a $28 salad. I was charged $20 to add several slices of chicken breast. $20!!!! You should warn your customers about your ridiculous upcharges prior to them ordering. I have NEVER in my life seen a $20 up charge for chicken on a salad and I’m from the East Coast where prices are higher in general. I thought it was very deceptive. I doubt I will ever return.

A beautiful modern space with excellent lighting, a good music playlist, and impeccable service. I’ve visited this restaurant a couple of times, and each time, the food is divine, the ambience is perfect, and the vibe is just right. The food is quite delicious. This time I had the Melanzana (eggplant) and was out of this world, beautifully prepared and proportioned quite well. Cocktails are always on point and the seafood always fantastic! If you’re near the area, consider this place for a fine experience. The staff has always been accommodating and on point with selections, offerings, and anything else you may need.

Great restaurant. Fish was perfectly cooked and tested amazing. Linguini had a nice bite and very delicate flavorful sauce. Service was very pleasant. Owner was there checking on service and customers-nice guy. In the old Remy restaurant , space has been redone and wonderful. Highly recommend. Will definitely go back again.

It’s a tale of two dishes. We started with a steak tartare. As this was our first bite ever at Il Palato, we were thrilled to taste a well seasoned, wonderfully prepared tartare. We savored this appetizer and looked forward to what would come. But what came next was an unmemorable salad. Not that there was anything wrong with either of our salads, but neither of them stood out. I was looking forward to the fish of the day, but by 7pm there were none to be had. So I settled on the pork Milanese. The pork itself was well prepared: beaten very thin, breaded, and fried just right. It was buried under a mountain of tomatoes that, although tasty, overshadowed the meat. Perhaps the most perplexing was the accompanying corn puree. It was quite flavorful, but had no business being with this otherwise Italian dish. In fact, it brought with it hints of maize and TexMex rather than Italian. In a different dish, I would have enjoyed it more.
