Fantastic italian restaurant that is did not expect to see here. Food was great and the pasta was one of the best I’ve had in my travels. The freshly baked bread was a surprise and the flavor of the Mediterranean salad to the filet was very good. Get the house butter which is a honey infused butter… goes so well with freshly baked bread.
Surprised no one else was here because the food was that good from a city I was not expecting. Definitely stop by if you are in the area

Misleading menu and online representation.

We decided to visit the restaurant based on the restaurant’s webpage, including pictures, menu and their story. It stated homemade pasta and authentic italian cuisine.
Since we are regularly visiting Italy, we felt intrigued and reserved a table.
Unfortunately, we were very disappointed.

1. The bread was cold inside and was most likely straight out of the the freezer.
The “homemade” butter contained something sweet – I guess it was sugar.
The EVOO contained pesto.

2. The caprese was covered in pesto, which wasn’t stated on the menu.

3. The pasta was not homemade, (nor al dente).

One of us ordered the “Saltimbocca Alla Romana”; “Sliced pork Tenderloin prepared with prosciutto di Parma, sage & mozzarella cooked in a delicate white wine sauce.”

4. It wasn’t pork tenderloin. It was some kind of cheap, thin, fatty pork, which you could divide with the side of your fork.

5. It didn’t contain any sage. Instead it was served with a lot of parsley.

6. On both of our dishes, the meat were covered with lots of melted cheese.
On the other hand the “Chicken Parmigiana” one of us ordered, didn’t contain any parmesan.

On the flipside, we had Gino as a waiter, who was warm, inviting and smiling.

Dispite the great service, we cannot recommend this restaurant. It is simply not true to its own word.

I really want to enjoy this place but the food is awful. The chef came by to ask how the chicken Marsala was. I said it was awful. He stated he’s from Italy and it’s fresh. The marsala tasted such as a frozen chicken breast in gravy sauce from food lion. He walked away and I walked away with a crappy to go bag that I tossed. The veggies even tasted as they were from the frozen isle. I originally was going to say service was great but when he packed my bread to go, he also packed my half eaten piece in a bag. Kinda just half service, for the price.

Went last evening for my mother’s 90th birthday. Our server, Jillian, was terrific! She was very attentive and took great care of us. Our food was fantastic! Jillian arranged for the restaurant to give my mom a complimentary desert and they sang happy birthday to her. A great evening! We’ve been here several times and will be back!

Stopped in here in a road trip and we are glad we did! They make all of their pasta by hand and it’s definitely noticeable in each dish. We got the daily special which was a branzino over hand made tortellini what is filled with a mixture of ricotta and parmesan to deliver a delicious robust flavor. The branzino was cooked to perfection! The flesh glistened and the skin was crispy. Amazing dish. Also pictured is the penne allo scoglio which was also very good. The penne is clearly also made in house and perfectly done. The amount of seafood in the dish was impressive. The only downside was the timing of the cook on the seafood, some of the muscle shells were lukewarm at best but overall the flavor delivered. I’d definitely get it again. We finished with a crème brûlée which was incredible! Not over sweet and the fame torched sugar on top was thin and very well balanced. We would 100% come back here if we are ever in the area. Also shout out to Brenton who was out server and went above and beyond in delivering a most enjoyable experience and answering all of my many questions.

We were recommended by a friend to go to Il Buongustaio on a date and we are glad we went! The food was amazing everything was fresh and made from scratch. I enjoyed the slower pace of the restaurant it gave us a chance to talk and relax while we waited for our food. The wine pairing that the waiter suggested went beautifully with our food and it definitely enhanced the experience while eating. The service was excellent the server Luciano was there whenever we needed him and he gave great suggestions on the menu. This is a perfect date night spot if you are looking for somewhere more upscale in Florence!

Found this place last night by sheer luck. It was a fabulous experience. Gino was a great host and guided us to a very nice red wine and great choices on the menu. I recommend this restaurant very highly and can’t wait to return to Florence.

Authentic Italian cuisine! We started with fresh bread and burrata. Side note, the ratio of olive oil to bread is disproportionate, in my opinion.

One of our favorite dishes of the evening was the secondary, Saltimbocca which was exquisite. Also finished off with the house-made vanilla profiteroles. Amazing!

Loved the atmosphere and staff. Very quaint and welcoming.
