Panicked about Ikoi’s future when news came about Hotel Miramar’s closure so we quickly made a reservation. The last time we checked it seems like the restaurant will remain open, not closing or relocating (yet). Ikoi is practically an institution when it comes to great, affordable Japanese food – especially the fresh sashimi and salmon skin temaki <3 The ala-carte buffet is a must-do. Starting with their lovely salmon appetiser and ending with the tasty soothing broth in a teapot. Fresh sashimi, prawn tempura and salmon skin hand roll are my top favourites. Been going to this place for close to two decades, nothing changes (in a good way) and it’s always so comforting.

Heard about this Japanese buffet for many years but didn’t try until I heard the news that Miramar hotel is closing. Quickly made a booking and went to try their buffet. Very cosy atmosphere. The selection of food is quite good and I tried like a good 40% of the items on the menu. The salmon skin wrap is my favourite dish. The sashimi is really fresh too. I hope they will be able to continue their business or at least reopen at another location one day. All the best.

Decided to visit Ikoi Japanese Restaurant since it was closing down (or possibly moving soon). After trying the food, I can honestly say, good riddance.
The sashimi wasn’t even fresh. It was served warm instead of chilled. The shishamo was a disaster, cold inside and clearly not grilled properly. The yakitori was cold, bland, and with zero charred flavour. Even the udon managed to be bland beyond belief. It honestly felt like the chef had already checked out long ago.
By the end of the meal, I came to one conclusion: this place should market itself as a slimming and detox program rather than a restaurant. If you’re looking for flavour or quality, forget it. But if you want a punishment diet that’ll make you rethink every life choice leading you here, then by all means, give it a shot before it closes down.
Even if it were free, I wouldn’t step foot in here again.

wrost buffet in Singapore. Nothing to choose. $70++ per pax. Some of dishes only service single time. $210++ for nothing. They only serve heavy food make you quick full. This price actually can have many nice buffets at other places.

If you have fond childhood memories of Ikoi, I would recommend keeping them as memories rather than revisiting for a final hurrah, given the impending closure of Hotel Miramar.
The restaurant was severely understaffed during my visit, and while the waitstaff did their best, the extremely affordable pricing means it is perpetually crowded, making it difficult to get orders through.
The decor and atmosphere remain similar since the early 2000s, including the ventilation. Be prepared that the smell of oil and fish lingers on clothes long after leaving.
As for the food, both quality and freshness felt lacking. While this may be acceptable given the very low prices, one member of my party experienced vomiting and diarrhoea afterward. This was his first meal of the day, so we were concerned it might have been related.

BEST VALUE for a very good Japanese Buffet. We have been patronising IKOI for over a decade. $50++, ala carte buffet, really worth it ! The dishes are only cooked/prepared when you order them, so the dishes are warm, fresh, and delicious. Their Sashimi were super fresh, thick cuts, and good portion. Tempura were warm, light batter, and crispy. Their ROLLS were amazing, very crisp nori, which indicates it is rolled freshly. Must order their chicken wings & shishamo, nicely grilled. Many choices of items in the menu to choose. Waiting time for foods is short. Good service, especially from Ms. May. Best to make a reservation as IKOI is always fully booked. There are 2 seating..6pm or 8.15pm. Will be back again.

For the past 17 years, I came here countless times. Somehow never left a review.
From when i started studying in the university, on some days i would walk over from home and most of the time they are so accommodating to add one more seat right at the cashier, till now I come back every year even after i moved away from town area.
So when I heard about Miramar is closing, i wanted to come here for one last time, pending the fate of the restaurant. Over the years, seen so many staff work and left. The place still felt some sense of familiarity. All the best!

The price has increased to $70++ per person with effect from 1 November 2025! The total price after ++ is $83.95 per person. No discounts are available for now.
It used to be $50++ and it felt like good value for money back then.
However with the price increase, the food has not changed and I think there are many other places to eat for $83.85 per person.
PS: With Hotel Miramar changing hands, the restaurant is still open for now. There may be renovations which affect them in the future, but the restaurant plans to stay there. Check their Facebook page for updates.

The perfect place for all sashimi lovers. This place offers top grade sashimi of various fish types at affordable prices. The boat platter would’ve easily cost $50+ in most restaurants. For those who don’t take raw fish, there’s a plethora of other roasted/fried/cooked stuff for your enjoyment.

Always have the fresh sashimi. Love the ambience there. Even the hotel is closed, the restaurant is still serving.
