Early morning breakfast, just opened. Bottomless coffee. Son loved the waffles, plus four different flavors syrups. Omelet with Beacon, Sausage with fresh mushroom. Keep up the good work. Big portions. You can share if your not a big eater! And price is reasonable for the portions size. Very friendly service. Opens at 7:00 .

Meh. We went there for breakfast and I have to say if you’re looking for pancakes and Gallo pinto there are better and tastier options in other places. Staff was great but the food was nothing out of the ordinary.

Gringo breakfast, you ask? ☕️
IHOP recently opened in Escazú at Plaza Tempo, right next door to Applebee’s (they even share a kitchen). Don’t get me wrong—we love our gallo pinto—but every once in a while it’s a treat to indulge in a nostalgic breakfast: an omelet, a platter of pancakes with an assortment of syrups and a never-ending pot of coffee.
We were warmly welcomed and seated right away. Our server, Jossimar, was fantastic—he spent a lot of time with us and made the visit extra enjoyable. The food was just what we expected: no hashbrowns (pretty normal in Costa Rica), and we wouldn’t recommend the steak omelet (Costa Rican beef isn’t quite cut out for that dish). But the bottomless coffee pot? That alone makes us happy—it’s definitely not something you find every day here. Life is good in Costa Rica. Pura vida

The reason we won’t visit again is not the money they didn’t reimburse, but the blatant lack of transparency either from the waiter or from the person we messaged through facebook. My son, husband and myself were here for lunch. All three of us requested the “Executive lunch” which comes with a soda. I didn’t have a soda I had a Bahama Mama, which I pay for separately. No biggie, I wasn’t going to ask for something I was not going to drink. The problem here is that both my son and husband requested a refill of their soda, which at the end they charged as an extra. I myself didn’t get the soda that comes with my lunch, but they oversaw that of course. When I contacted them, they stated that “we confirmed that the server explained that the Executive Menu includes only one beverage (no refill)”. This is just a lie, nobody explained anything like it. It would be something to just overlook, we really are not hurting for 6 dollars, but when you add it to the fact that we waited almost 15 minutes for the waiter to bring the dessert (and we had to remind him), makes this experience sour overall. I am sure IHOP does not need us as customers, but this is how a business loses their clients, one by one.

Me and my wife had the Lunchtime Menu deal 6,950 for a drink, appetizer and main dish. I had the Chicken Lime with cesar salad and lemonade, while my wife had a coke zero, the house salad and the hamburger with fries. Both salads were tasty, my chicken lime dish with mexan rice was decent and my wifes hamburger was excellent. Definitely looking forward to coming back and getting one of their bigger hamburgers since they taste so good.

Honestly really good experience, we were almost instantlly atended by Esteban even though the place seemed to be pretty full. Food came out very quick and was veey good. Did indeed taste like and american breakfast. A little crowded but nothing to complain about

I needed a quick and tasty breakfast and I got it delivered as expected. I tried the spinach omelette with pancakes, and it took less than 7 minutes to have it in front of me. It was a good omelette, and the sauces make it even better. Pancakes were also good, and the coffee plentiful. Price isn’t low, but I think it matches the experience quite well. I got my food and drink for $20, kind of high for breakfast, but it was worth it.

So, I’d heard that Costa Ricans, who are pretty confident in themselves, aren’t exactly the biggest fans of the U.S. culture. But staying at the hotel nearby, I watched them line up for an hour or more just to get into this pancake joint. Honestly, seeing their dedication made me kinda respect them—their patience almost felt like a “sacrificial mission” to dive deeper into American culture and, maybe, to solidify their own stance on it.
Service: The staff seems genuinely committed—they’re really trying to follow the corporate playbook. But wow, during opening season, they’re totally swamped. Everyone looked exhausted, like they were holding the fort with sheer willpower.
Food: Funny thing—my first visit and second visit were very different experiences, even with the same dish. Portions and quality didn’t match up. Consistency? Not so much.
Price: At the end of the day, it’s still a restaurant. No amount of friendly service can completely make up for food that’s hit or miss. Prices felt high, and honestly, it’s like the “American-style tip” was already baked into the bill.

Service was absolutely terrible, very far from American diner experience and very different from the competitors. Food was ok, portions were smaller than others but ok. Would never come back nor recommend it.

Anna was great. The food was really good, but we had to wait over 20 minutes for 2 pancakes.
