The IHOP in Torrance offers a mixed dining experience that combines friendly service with some shortcomings in food presentation. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by Melissa, who took the time to explain the menu and promptly took my drink order.
I decided on the Crispy Shrimp & Fries Platter, which arrived surprisingly fast. However, when I received my meal, I was taken aback as it resembled a kids’ meal, prompting me to question whether I had been served from the 55-year-old menu. Despite this, I shrugged it off since I wasn’t particularly hungry at the time. To my surprise, shortly after, a bowl with five additional crispy shrimp arrived, which was a nice touch but still missing two items and half the fries.
While the food itself was tasty, it didn’t match the enticing images found in the menu or online, leaving me feeling somewhat disappointed. The service from Melissa was delightful, but it seemed like the kitchen staff lacked attention to detail, leading to a disconnect between expectation and reality.
I also noticed the manager trying to gauge my satisfaction, perhaps anticipating annoyance, but ultimately retreated when I remained amicable.
Overall, while the atmosphere and service were pleasant, it’s essential to ensure that customers receive what they pay for. A heads-up for future diners: keep an eye on your order to make sure it meets your expectations!

First time going to IHOP. Not really satisfied with the food. Especially the Fisherman’s Platter, taste like microwave food. And plus, its way expensive. French Toast, 15 dollars… Go somewhere else, best quality and you get what you paid for. Not here. Bring back Chinese Seafood Port.

On this foggy December morning, I decided to have breakfast at the newly opened IHOP in Torrance. As I entered the restaurant, I immediately noticed that the interior designer made sure that this is a happy and enjoyable place. It is very clean… the tables are well organized and ready to accommodate customers. I was politely greeted by Ms. M who seated me at a table by the window with a view of Hawthorn Blvd. The server Mr. G was very patient and very helpful as I asked him suggestions on what to order (because the last time I was at IHOP was in 2018 at Guam). I ordered the Farmhouse BreakFEAST with an extra side order of Bacon and a pot of coffee. While waiting for my order, Mr. G would check on me, and chat a bit until he brought me my meal which came out at a very reasonable wait time. The presentation was beautifully executed especially the eggs which were cooked to my liking. As I was enjoying my meal, Mr. G kept on checking on me, asking every now and then if I needed anything else. He later introduced me to Mr. J because he will be having his break in a bit. I noticed that he did this to all customers in the area hopping from one table to the next. Mr. J was very polite and helpful as he also checked on us customers every now and then. When I settled the bill i gave a tip higher than the suggested percentage. To my surprise, they had to inform the manager that I gave a higher tip before accepting my payment. I was impressed with the overall experience. The service provided was excellent, sincere and helpful. The rapport and professionalism of the staff coupled with the overall quality of the meal and cleanliness of the restaurant is what makes customers regulars. I can’t wait to take my family here during the weekends. 5 stars!!!

McDonald’s has better breakfast items. The atmosphere is okay if you like extremely loud restaurants. The servers were very confused and too many. Had difficulty taking directions.

I am so thankful that IHOP has returned to the South Bay! Growing up my family dined at the Gardena and Del Amo location. The pigs in a blanket is my favorite, but they took it off the menu. I spoke to the manager, Irene and told her I wanted the “PIB” and explained how you make it and she resurrected it – just for me! This is a lovely location and because it is brand spankin’ new, so clean and bright. The greeters said hello and goodbye to me. I will be back!!!!

Every visit has been a fantastic experience. From the moment that you enter, you are greeted by the staff with a warm “Welcome to YOUR IHOP”. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The food has always been fresh and hot. This location has been a pleasant addition to the area. The hospitality here is phenomenal, it’s the main reason I’ve become a regular.
