Was seating at 8:55am
Lady just tosssed the menu and said “sit right there”.
My order was taken at 8:05am
Food came out around 8:20
I left at 8:45 (started being packed around that time but when I came it was not packed, just 4 other guest groups)
My waitress was nice and kind
I ordered the sampler with an OJ
AND a kids waffle meal with strawberry and bananas and a apple juice
My total was $30
Not worth $30
I haven’t eaten at ihop in a few years and I never recalled their pancakes being pillable (like layered )
Also the booths were really tight. Was uncomfortable managing a toddler in those tight spots
My daughter and I visited this IHOP location on February 25th around 6:16 PM, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish.
We entered through the side entrance and were greeted by a Hispanic woman. When we said “2,” she simply stared at my daughter before seating us. It already felt uncomfortable. When we got to the table, my seat had a large rip in it — the cushion was completely exposed. That should have been the first red flag.
My daughter ordered the Blueberry Splash drink, which is advertised as a refresher with strawberries clearly shown in the photo on the menu. She also ordered a berry crepe with blueberries, strawberries, chocolate drizzle, and whipped cream.
What we received looked nothing like what was advertised. The drink looked like bright blue Hawaiian Punch — no strawberries at all. The crepe was extremely disappointing: it looked like four thin pieces folded over with only a few small half-sliced strawberries and a tiny bit of whipped cream on the side. There was no drizzle, no toppings, no presentation — nothing like the picture. For $13.99, it was absolutely not worth it.
When I questioned it, the server said the picture on the menu is “different” and that what we got was correct. I told her I did not want that for $13.99. She took it back, and the cook asked her in Spanish what was wrong. We live in Elizabeth — I understand Spanish. She told him I didn’t want it because it didn’t look like the picture and wasn’t worth the price. He responded, “What does she think she’s going to get?” That was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.
I ordered the sampler. The entire plate lacked flavor. The home fries were dry, and the sausage links were undercooked. The only decent items were the pancakes and the Jr. 2-piece chicken nuggets with fries.
Then came the final issue — the bill. The total was $33.93. I paid with a $50 bill. My change should have been $16.07, but she brought back only $16. When I asked in Spanish where the rest of my change was, she came back with an attitude and handed me coins — acting as if she was doing me a favor. Whether it was a mistake or not, it should not have happened, and her attitude made it worse.
We were the only customers in the restaurant, which should have been another warning sign.
Overall, the service was poor, the food quality was disappointing, and the experience felt disrespectful. This location is not what it used to be. We will not be returning.
Lesson learned.
Most of the staff showed interest in customers’ needs and have been mostly very attentive to making conversations in asking if all is well. I’ve also experienced staff with the look of not wanting to be there working.
Food has been good, and it’s my main reason why I’ve come back a few times. It’s been a good experience, so why should I not come back?
I’ll recommend it, so you can give it a try yourself.
