The drink special on Thursday is the Sangria Rita Swirl for $2.00. Yes, $2.00. They run a good amount of frozen margarita slush into a glass, add sangria and drop in a maraschino cherry. The rim can be salted or sugared to order. I had several of these a few years back and had to try it again. Glad I did. It’s a bit sour from the lime, has classic margarita flavors, and the sangria adds a bit of fruitiness and my salted rim complimented the sweetness. I had a few of these. If there’s any booze in this drink I could not find it. Tasty nonetheless. Fountain Diet Coke is $3.95, endless refills. We really enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa that they brought to the table. A large basket of house fried tortilla chips, more like halves of tortillas, are still warm, light and flavorful. The sauce platter joining them has a house mild salsa, another salsa just a little spicy, some very fresh tasting pico de gallo and crema. Use and combine as you like and no problem getting more chips or salsas. For dinner, I had the Pozole ($13.00) soup. A Mexican standard, pork and hominy in a broth served with traditional fresh add-ins. The menu says the broth is spicy, it is not at all. Loads of pork and hominy. This is no small bowl of soup. Plan to split it or bring some home as I did. It came out with radish slices already in the soup and I added all of the side veggies – diced tomatoes, onions, avocado, and I think chopped romaine lettuce. I did add a bit of the spicy salsa to the soup and that did the trick. So tasty and enjoyable. My wife had the Southwest Salmon ($25.00). A nice size piece of salmon filet, seasoned with a variety of spices, pan seared, then oven roasted and perfectly moist. It was joined on the plate with garlicky, herby zucchini slices and for once, a Mexican rice that had flavor. They called it Sonoran, with garlic, onion, cumin and turmeric. My wife raved about it. Dianellys was our server and she was very attentive and gave us menu pointers as we were deciding. A group down the way from us was celebrating a birthday and it was fun to see the photos being taken with the birthday boy wearing a large sombrero. Go there. It’s relaxing, they have a nice patio on front when it’s warm, good food and drinks.
The bar is a great place. However, it needs better service. Been here a bunch and here is my observation. Jen is not the answer on Friday night or busy nights, she has little personality, and service is not good. You have other trainees but not sure what they will bring.
If I was in charge, two things.
Caroline would be my go to on busy nights, way better service, personality and friendly with customers. She is a star. Put her behind the bar. Hire another person with a personality and has awareness of what is going on in bar.
We were brought out chips with 4 different options of sauces, along with the menu. Our server Paige, took our order and quickly brought out the beverages, and before you know our meal was ready. My grilled chicken burrito came piping hot along with rice and beans.
The presentation of my food was outstanding, The taste was outstanding with a large amount of grilled chicken inside the burrito, and the outside smothered with white cheese.
Paige refilled our soft drinks without even asking, mine was just about empty .
Since we came before 3 pm we got a lunch price discount.
I can’t wait to go back again.
