The server was great but the food not so much!
Stale chips!- their kettle chips were super stale. They do not make these fresh daily they were gross.
My Hamburger was basically raw. I couldn’t even force myself to eat it so my boyfriend finished it. Even he said yeah that’s pretty raw! And he likes his rare.
But the service was good and the drinks tasted good. I did like that you could try the oysters and just pay for them individually. We got 2 of each kind (3kinds). It was fun to sample them. We had a good view! The friends good will was setting by sail.

What Happened to this place? Did it come under new ownership? We come here every year and this year the drinks were horrible. Your homemade sour mix for the Long Island iced teas taste like crushed baby aspirin. We used to love these drinks and now they taste very gross. We tried it twice and both times on two different days. I hope you go back to the old recipe. The lobster sandwich filling was good, but the bread was stale. The kettle chips were all crushed and small pieces and the yellow jacket bees on the river boat were horrific. You do know you can set traps for them don’t you? Lastly, every year that we would come to the bar and the river boat at the same time of year is normally packed. However this year we were the only people sitting at the bar at 5 PM , which goes to show other people are feeling the same way .
We came back for a second try on the river boat and there was no one there at 6 PM.

Best spot is South Haven, an old boat on the river, pure nostalgic. You get a great view of the black river and all the boats driving by. Really good food and just the best spot to have a drink or some food and enjoy some sunshine. Our favorite place!

If you’re going to up-charge $1 to sub chips for REDSKIN POTATOES….I should get exactly that. Instead, I was met with an Idaho potato, baked and smashed into the bowl. It also took an hour and 10min to get a pulled pork sandwich, and a side Caesar salad.

We all had a good time on the Idler! The pita and dip were tasty and so was the brisket sandwich. Someone in my group ordered at a margarita and they thought it tasted too sweet, but I thought it tasted fine. Great Jimmy Buffet type music on the speakers too, which was nice!

I first came here when I was 7 or 8 years old and it looks like they spent barely any money on upgrading the restaurant as everything looked well used. Redskin potatoes were literally plain lol no salt or seasoning

Disappointed. Stopped here for lunch while on the Harbor walk- a touristy stop that we thought would be perfect for a warm sunny day, especially being right on the river… But it wasn’t perfect AT ALL. Waited well over 1.5 hr (while watching others being served who came in after us) for our food while being given bizarre excuses by our waitress that the computer didn’t work and therefore the cooks didn’t get our order. After 1 hr, ‘wait, your food will be ready in 3 min’- and then another half hour later- she brings our food and says that she’s sorry our food was a ‘couple minutes late but hey, it’s fresh cuz I stood by the cook while it was being prepared.’ …WUT?

Had the shrimp tacos (do not order, smallest shrimp ever, no flavor, and mostly full of beans and corn), wings (meh, bland), and mahi mahi sandwich (ok). Feel bad writing this review, but $68 later, I wish I would have read prior reviews before coming, because we would have gone elsewhere.

We love the atmosphere and the service, that’s why we keep coming back. The food was okay on our 3rd visiting last Saturday. We ordered BBQ combo platter and Sweet pepper crab soup. The corn was soggy and mushy. The ribs were salty from the dried rub. The soup also a little bit on a salty side. But this won’t stop us from going back, so we can try on other menu.

I had the Whitefish Dip and the Lobster Roll. At first, I didn’t think that much of the dip, but 5 minutes later, I realized I couldn’t stop eating it. The lobster roll was huge, and at $21, it was quite a good deal. The only drawbacks were the state of the boat itself and its miniature bathroom. The carpet and overall condition of everything on the boat was quite disappointing and sad, but the food and service made up for it. If I lived in South Haven, I could eat the lobster roll at least once a week.
