I loved everything about this place! I had smothered pork chops with green beans and cabbage. The pork chops were so tinder I could cut them with a fork! The green beans and cabbage were the best I had in ages. The food was full of flavor. The service was attentive and friendly. Absolutely amazing!

I called it Ida Mae Brown’s but I was being silly. The food was delicious!! I had the catfish, it was very good thick meat and Ibwas able to eat withoit tartar sauce can the breading was seasined right!!! The candied yams were da bomb and the cabbage was to die for!!! My wife had the smothered pork chops and the portion was big. We will return if we are in the area.

I ordered the baked chicken. It was greasy.. something was missing. Like all I wanted was some slow cooked baked chicken. It was dry in areas. The Mac n cheese was just okay. The greens were good but too salty. I enjoyed the hot water cornbread. The service was great! I ordered online and picked up 15 minutes later!— on a Sunday!! I’ll definitely go again. I just have to figure out which sides I like. It’s kinda expensive but I guess comparable to the same food at other places. The portion sizes aren’t huge.

Went to Waxahachie Wednesday and decided to try this place on recommendation from a local resident. Very small restaurant on the outside of town. They offer outdoor seating which is a must have with our dog Buddy always being with us. Taylor had the Fried Catfish and collared greens and candied yams. I tried the smothered pork chops with mashed potatoes and black eyed peas. Buddy gave it a 3 bubble review. We both got dessert to go. Everything was delicious.

Customer service was great as soon as I walked in I was greeted friendly. The place is clean and smelled amazing. I really enjoyed the fish plate it was perfect and the sides. But as a black women who cooks alot of soul food items the mac and greens was very bland.

Let me start off by saying the menu in the restaurant is somewhat different than their website. Went for their fried chicken, but that is no longer on the menu. Ended up with the regular fried catfish. It was delicious. Having never had turnip greens before, I got a sample. I am a convert a loved it. It’s a big meal with 2 veggies so I took some home. If your a Senior, get their Senior plate with 1 veggie. The cornbread needs some loving. Enjoyed my visit and will be back to try something else. Small space if they get busy but they have outdoor seating.

We had a party of 9 and they did not hesitant to accommodate and welcome us! Every single person in our group loved their food! That is rare. Someone usually complains about something with a group that large but not this time! Days later we are still thinking about and craving the food. Most of us had the catfish, my daughter had the meatloaf and a couple of us had the large chicken wings. Sides included mashed potatoes, collard greens, green beans, black eyed peas, homestyle fries, sweet potatoes and mac n cheese. It was all so tasty and you can tell, intentionally prepared. The banana cheesecake, chef’s kiss! What a blessing to the residents of Waxahachie and the people passing through that happen upon this hidden gem. The staff were so friendly and attentive! Do not miss out on this experience if you are ever in the area.

Ida Mae’s did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the smothered pork chops, and they were incredibly tender and full of flavor. The sides were just as good—perfectly seasoned and clearly made with care. My mom had the chicken wings and loved every bite, along with her sides as well. Everything tasted fresh, hearty, and homemade. This was a great experience from start to finish, and we will definitely be back!

The FOOD IS AMAZING!!!!! The owner is very sweet and the male server makes you feel special and seen. He serves with a beautiful heart. He really caters to all the guests. I also enjoyed the Great music in the background. I will definitely be back!!! I will bring all my guest from out if town here! We had the fish, greens, cabbage, blackeye peas, hotwater cornbread. It was sooooooo good.
