The sushi was incredibly fresh and well-balanced, and the teriyaki had great flavor without being overly sweet or heavy. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. I also like that they offer some Chinese dishes, so there are plenty of options if you’re going with a group.
I’ve tried many sushi and teriyaki spots, and this is honestly the best one I’ve had so far. Definitely coming back.
A friend was really excited to take me to Ichiro so I was primed to like them. Sadly, what they served was just not good.
The “beef teriyaki” was really sukiyaki/gyudon – wet, steamed beef and onions with some teriyaki flavor. The chicken teriyaki tasted like it had been par-cooked earlier in the day so by the time I got it hot off the grill it was hard, dry, and rubbery.
The salad was good, but I like my dressing heavy and tart, so others may not like that. The calamari was just ok, my companion was not impressed.
The sushi rice was unfortunately hard. Just slightly undercooked – though overall we enjoyed the quality of the fish in both rolls we had. The cuts and the freshness were both great, if not for that undercooked rice.
The interior of the restaurant is cramped and simplistic. It looked like someone tried to break in overnight so the front door was smashed. Meanwhile, the front of the restaurant was overloaded with cases of sodas. The cleanliness was tough to judge because they were so busy.
Service, was the high point. Staff were friend and courteous. They were also incredibly busy with takeout orders.
For the price, which I would consider very expensive, I won’t be back. That wet limp beef was a real low point.
The young male running the register is obnoxious and rude.
They also charge a fee for ordering through their website.
If you’re going to pay a premium for food do it through an app; have it delivered; skip their attitude; and eat from a place rated above 4.2 stars.
Also very nice spicy chicken teriyaki (I will ask for it spicier next time but otherwise verrrrry enjoyable dish)
