We got to try the first kaiseki restaurant in DFW. Every dish is made with the finest ingredients and prepared to perfection. Ichika offers an intimate 8 seating kaiseki experience that is perfect for special occasions or even a casual dinner. Thank you chef Leo for brining this unique experience to the neighborhood and providing such a memorable experience

Ichika Kaiseki has finally opened its doors. I was truly fortunate to experience a course meal crafted by Chef Leo, Chef Chika, and Chef Sachi. It was an experience of authentic Japanese cuisine—profound and pure—that I will surely never forget. How can mere words possibly do justice to the course I experienced? I would describe their entire culinary repertoire—which defies verbal expression—as the definitive culmination of Japanese dining in Dallas, Texas. They are now writing a grand chapter in history.

I was blown away at Ichika! Located in a convenient shopping area right off Preston Road across from the NYLO Hotel, it’s easy to get to but feels like a true culinary destination.
Watching some of the best chefs in the country create such incredible dishes was an experience of a lifetime. Every bite made me even more excited for the next course. The presentation, flavor, and creativity were all outstanding.
The service was just as impressive, and the sake selection was incredible. I can’t wait for my next reservation!

Ichika delivered one of the most exceptional in-person dining experiences I’ve had. The tasting course was masterfully curated, showcasing a harmonious balance of unique flavors and strikingly beautiful plating that elevated the experience both visually and gastronomically. Chef Leo sets the tone from the very beginning, opening with pristine uni before seamlessly following with A5 char-grilled wagyu, leading into a progression of innovative and thoughtfully composed dishes. Each course felt intentional and refined. Overall, Ichika is a destination that unquestionably deserves a place on every serious foodie’s bucket list.

Unlike Kinzo’s flavor explosions, Ichika operates in a much quieter, less commercial register. Chef Leo’s Kaiseki is a study in restraint. It’s a deliberate journey through sour, salty, bitter, sweet, and umami, through different temperatures and textures. The technique and preparation behind each course is obsessive: a broth built over hours, abalone steamed with patience, and ingredients treated with a care that borders on reverence. Chef Leo strips the craft down to its fundamentals so the ingredient can speak.
To be frank, not everyone will understand this meal, and not everyone will come back. Kaiseki demands something of its diner – attention, patience, a willingness to find wonder in the understated. But I’d argue there are more Texans ready for that than we give ourselves credit for.
At $250, you are paying for ingredient quality, yes, but more than that, you are paying for restraint. A chef’s entire philosophy expressed in a single meal. So sit down, relax, and enjoy the show.
The wow here is quiet. Give it a chance.

Let’s start off with the atmosphere, the vibe around is MADE to be enjoyable, once you’re seated, you’re absorbing the energy all around you. Every dish was phenomenal, and some of the ingredients you thought you wouldn’t like, this restaurant will make it tasty. As a first Kaiseki restaurant experience, it really challenges all of your senses, a good thing, of course. With that being said, as a Kappo Style Restaurant, the chefs will prepare and cut, all in front of you. And it will be the freshest you can get. The restaurant can be described like a Guinness commercial; “Good things come to those who wait.” Would definitely go here again.
