Ichifuji Sushi was a major highlight of our family trip to San Diego. The atmosphere is very friendly and the shop itself has a great feel to it.
The chef was exceptional—not only was he incredibly kind, but he was also extremely good at explaining the details of every dish. One technical detail I really appreciated was his use of a 30-day fermented ponzu sauce. It effectively balanced the richness of the fish and acted as a perfect palate cleanser between courses.
The food was unforgettable, specifically:
• Lobster Sashimi: This was unbelievable and easily the best thing I had. I never realized lobster could be so naturally sweet.
• Sea Urchin: The uni was my second favorite—superb quality and very fresh.
I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for top-tier sushi and a warm, personal atmosphere!

Came here for my partners birthday and it was as good and better than expected. We like going to soichi for our special occasions but they aren’t open on Mondays so we decided to give Ichifuji a shot and it didn’t disappoint. The whole dinner was amazing from start to finish. Can not wait to come back and try the rest of the seasons.

This is a great place to have an experience! We were served about eight courses. Everything we had was very good very fresh and well presented. The service was very good with prompt course servings and a kind waiter. The price was quite high with it being around $150. I think the price is about normal for this experience. I think the only downside for me was we didn’t get any interaction with the chef. And that’s the experience of being on the patio, which is different from being inside. Overall, it was a great experience.

Ichifuji delivers an exceptional omakase experience with high-quality ingredients, including select imports from Japan that elevate each dish. Their attention to detail extends beyond the meal, offering a thoughtful photo keepsake for special occasions like anniversaries and birthdays. The menu evolves with the seasons—spring, summer, fall, and winter—ensuring a fresh and dynamic dining experience. We indulged in the summer course, which highlighted vibrant flavors and expertly crafted seafood selections. Driving two hours from Orange County to San Diego was absolutely worth it- every bite reflected a commitment to authenticity and excellence.

This is my third time at Ichifuji which has been my favorite omakase spot in San Diego. They have a seasonal menu so you will get something different every season. Hint hint, you’ll want to try it 4 times to get the full experience.

The chefs are knowledgeable on what they are making and you even get to compare uni one of them being from San Diego. There are alot of items and we end up being full at the end. The finisher desert is my favorite in the summer. The sorbet/ice cream they make is to die for!

There were so many items to talk about but they are all delicious. Check out the best omakase in town when you are in San Diego!

One of my absolute favorite sushi experiences anywhere. Excellent sake options to taste and pair. Menu changes seasonally. Chefs absolutely love the craft and are lots of fun! Small parking lot on site. Reservations required.

We came Ichifuji Sushi for dinner last night with my family to celebrate my birthday . (In the Patio table)

The price was $524 for 3 people( not including tips).

the food was delicious, very fresh, I think it was worth the price, but my husband and my son disagreed with me.

The amount enough for me, but not enough for my son and husband. ( they had to eat some snacks after we get home)

But the service is very disappointed.
In the beginning was ok, but after half way of the dinner , we had waiting for little white to get next dish , there was even a
20 minutes interval in between. My husband almost fall in asleep, my son was complaining about the slow service.
It made me feel anxious.

In the end of the dinner, two chef came to the patio say hello to the next table , they are talking, laughing and taking pictures together, then they ignored our table, I didn’t understand why.
( I remember last year my friend and I were here for dinner, everything is great, especially the two chef came to our table say hello and thanks to support theirs business etc. I had such a beautiful memories, that’s why I decided bring my family to celebrate my birthday here)
But unfortunately, the experience was not as good as the last time.

Btw, during 2 and half hours dinner time , I didn’t receive any birthday treats even a simple “ happy birthday “ word.

Disappointed experience, wouldn’t come back again.

The omakase is such a memorable and wonderful experience from the chefs. I would definitely recommend sitting at the bar. Very unique and creative yet tasty items. Sake is all small batch from Japan and can’t be purchased anywhere else. The service is beyond my expectations. Hands down the best omakase experience I’ve had. They have a different menu for each season. Also have an outdoor dining area for the well behaved pooches.
