I really liked it here a lot! I loved the quality of the sushi. We ordered sake and 4 rolls. The service was very quick. I know we ordered the spicy salmon and California roll and 2 other specialty rolls – but honestly everything was soooo good! I would love to come back.

Ichiban Sushi & Ramen is a solid addition to the Shirlington dining scene. The first thing that stands out is the environment, the restaurant is very clean and nice, which makes it a pleasant spot for a sit-down meal.
Parking is a hit or miss, as far as the street, but there’s garage parking nearby. Regardless, both you have to pay.
The portions here are quite generous, and you definitely won’t leave hungry and most likely with food to go for another meal at home.
I.S.H. ROLL – $16.95
This roll was so delicious and very filling. It’s packed with deep-fried tempura shrimp, jalapeño, cream cheese, and avocado, then topped with spicy kani, eel sauce, and spicy mayo (I omitted the eel sauce). The flavors work really well together, though for the price point, I do wish they used real crab meat instead of the kani (imitation crab). It would have taken the roll to the next level!
I thought I would want more rolls to try but I barely could finish this alone.
SHRIMP RAMEN BOWL – $18.95
I ordered this with the veggie broth, and it was a huge amount of food. It’s a very hearty bowl, I added chili paste for some heat, though I personally wish they had chili oil instead, as it usually mixes into the broth a bit more smoothly.
SHIRLEY TEMPLE $4
I had a Shirley Temple, it was a good drink, but be aware that they don’t offer free refills on it which kinda was disappointing.
As for the service, it was nice and perfectly decent. The staff was polite enough and the food arrived in a timely manner.
Overall, Ichiban is a great choice if you want a clean atmosphere and large portions. While there are a few small areas for improvement like the crab meat and the drink refills, it’s still a very satisfying place for a meal in Shirlington.

Food was to die for! While I love ramen, I typically don’t get it because the meat serving is one or two paper-thin slices…not at Ichiban – the ramen came with two 1.5cm thick chunks of meat, which was deliciously cooked and full of flavour – absolutely loved it!!! The teriyaki steak was also one of the best I’ve ever had, perfectly cooked tender meat with a hint of grill flavour. The only less enjoyable part was the service…while quick&correct, also perfectly cold and unwelcoming. But that won’t stop me from coming back for a delicious bite.

Super delicious yummy food, no complaints here. The sushi was absolutely fresh and you can watch them make it at the bar. Cocktails are only $12 and the green tea shots are amazing. We also had the Ramen, whose broth was made in 12 hours. Highly recommend, we will be back. This is a new favorite for sure. Shout out to our bartender!

The sushi and atmosphere was great and worthy of some photos. But my waiter had a disappointed expression and seemed like he didnt want to deal with me. When I couldnt decide what to drink, he became impatient, did not offer any recomendations and so I chose the cheapest Jpop soda. He did not check my ID. He told me I should get a lyft home if Im drinking.
He checked on me often enough but still seemed annoyed when I asked for spicy mayo, and distracted when giving me my check. I suspect it wasnt personal so I gave a decent tip anyways.
Something or someone was agitating this employee. Its a red flag and I suspect there may be some tension among the staff. If the staff arent happy the customers arent happy.

Expansive menu selection. However, ramen base was limited to miso, soy, or vegetable (?) The beef and chicken had great flavor. The spicy was really hot but lacked depth of flavor. Great atmosphere would come back to try the sushi.

The food was delicious, though the service was pretty slow. The staff were very polite and nice, but it took us a bit of waiting to order our food, and it took forever to get our check. We couldn’t find our server for almost 20 minutes, and we only got our check when he checked in on us later. The restaurant was not even busy; there were maybe only 3 other parties dining with us. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, not too fun but not too bland, either.

My niece took me here for my birthday and my mind was blown. It is in Village atShirlington, one of my favorite little areas. Nice and quaint right outside of D.C. The sushi was absolutely amazing. We had the Victoria’s Secret roll, the spider roll and the Ish roll. I could taste every component in every piece. The fish was fresh and of the highest quality. The wasabi was freshly made. The presentation was gorgeous, there was even an orchid flower placed on our plate. I was upset when my stomach betrayed me and I had to stop. It has been a while since I have had really good sushi. We both had full containers of leftovers to take home and the best toasted brown rice green tea that I have ever had (that I immediately ordered on Amazon) and the bill was 60.00. The service was not amazing but not bad. 10/10 highly recommend.

Went for Happy Hour and ordered the chicken gyoza and the Hairy Mexican Roll, because of course something named this way had to be sampled! The gyoza were crispy on the outside and deliciously flavored, and the roll was fulfilling. There seemed to be a lot going on with the Hairy Mexican, ingredient-wise, but still very tasty.
Outdoor seating available. Plenty of parking around.

Decent place with decent prices. Overall not bad for the price. It’s close to my work so offers convenience. There’s plenty of nearby parking in garages which helps. Service is pretty good and the setting is very casual but comfortable. I usually get the chicken teriyaki bento box which provides a well balanced meal. My wife and daughter had the pork and chicken katsu don (respectively).
