I’ve been going to Ichiban for almost 5 years since moving to McLean and it’s one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Their sushi is always super fresh and their prices are better than all the surrounding sushi restaurants. The service is always outstanding.

Their Sashimi was fresh, so thick and fleshy enough to make me full just with a few pieces. The lady of the house was so kind that she cared about us enough to give us a complimentary food just because she asked my 6-year-old son to turn it down on his tablet PC, which was her duty and right to keep her restaurant as a pleasant place for all other customers. Thank you for your awesome service! Everything was so great!

Fantastic and authentic (family-owned?) non-chain sushi restaurant, you really can’t go wrong. Place has a very cozy feel as it’s quite small and only seats ~20. Houses a sushi bar and table seating. Waitress was quick, attentive, and very nice. Had the cali roll, tuna roll, and salmon toro (salmon belly). Cali rolls were tasty and flavorful. The tuna was tender and the seaweed wrap added a surprising smokeyness. The salmon toro was also so tender, very fatty and delicious. Pricing is on the higher side but definitely fair especially relative to the quality (and compared to other places). For example, a lunch special Cali+tuna roll (12 pieces total) is $10. The miso ($2) is light and savory, perfect for a snowy day. The two Salmon toro pieces were $6.50 and while that may sound pricy, each piece is massive, and combined offer just as much food as a sushi roll. All in all I’d say this is the best sushi I’ve had in the area so far and I’m looking forward to visiting again!

Very small portions: me to go Spider roll probably used half of a soft shell crab and the $13 ramen had 2 small pieces of pork. Very disappointed!I went to feel the value in a meal.

I got the Ika, squid sushi pictured on the left, and my friend got the Manhattan Roll, shrimp and tempura sushi on the right.

Ingredients are fresh and sushi is very tasty. I’m not usually a huge fan of sushi, probably because I have been exposed to the worst, but this restaurant really changed my mind! McLean may not be a great place to have good eats, but this is a hidden gem. I definitely recommend this. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant in itself is clean and tidy. 10/10.

We stopped in for lunch on a rainy day. Delicious miso soup, and three kinds of maki rolls! Prices are fair and service is friendly and very attentive. Will make this a regular stop when in or passing through McLean!

If someone had told me that a sushi place would be my ‘Cheers’, I would have laughed at the idea.
Visit many times/year and do take-out. In decades, there has not been a single time where the staff hasn’t been incredibly nicely courteous.
It is the first — and pretty much still favorite — restaurant that my kids ate at. The staff’s warm courtesy as little kids spill rice on the floor was/is a sign of how great they are.
Their chicken teriyaki is great and their tempura is far better than that found at nearby Japanese restaurants. The sushi is pretty consistently decent but, to be honest, rarely (sometimes) fantastic.
Fantastic staff, good food, fair/good prices … recommended.

You might not expect much from a sushi restaurant in a strip mall, but I’ve been going here for years and the sushi has been consistently very good. Is it fancy? No. Is it the best sushi I’ve ever had? Definitely not. But, it is fresh, the spicy scallop roll is the best I’ve had in any restaurant, and it is dependable. That coupled with the extremely friendly staff who fill your green tea every time it goes down by about 3 inches makes it a very pleasant experience. The prices are also very reasonable.
