Ice House BBQ is a hidden gem and easily one of our favorite spots on Mackinac Island. The outdoor dining area is peaceful and charming, surrounded by beautiful landscaping with cute little squirrels running around. It feels like a backyard cookout in the best way, with lawn games like cornhole available while you wait for your food.
The pizza from the outdoor oven was excellent, with a light and airy crust that was cooked perfectly. We also had the burnt end mac and cheese, which was rich and comforting. We added some barbecue sauce to it, and that made it even better. The kettle chips with blue cheese dip were a great starter and had just the right balance of flavor and crunch.
Between the great food, relaxing environment, and friendly atmosphere, Ice House BBQ is absolutely worth a visit when you’re on the island.

I always order the same exquisite dish: the stone-fired Sweet & Spicy Margarita Pizza, elevated with their signature cheese blend, micro greens and perfectly caramelized onions. It’s a masterpiece of flavor and texture, crafted with precision and care.
Their house-made balsamic vinegar and pesto are truly exceptional—rich, vibrant, and artisanal in every sense. We were so impressed, we dined here twice in the same day. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience worth savoring, again and again.

We sat down for a brief 15-20 minute meal before we had to catch our ferry.
This place did not disappoint.
Their ribs were so tender, the bbq sauce was just the right amount lathered on top. It wasn’t overwhelming. The fries were hot and fresh.
The burnt end mac & cheese was maybe the best I’ve ever had. Maybe I was just hungry but still, this was a great choice stopping by.

Its been 6 years since we had been to the island and the first time eating here! Looked like a cute place and menu looked tasty. I was so glad we chose to eat here, everything about this place was memorable! Our waitress was Katylin who was attentive to our group! Our food was ready within 15 or so minutes! Looking forward to going there again in the future!

We ordered the black bean burgers to accommodate our vegan diet, and let me just say—they did not disappoint! My 13-year-old son was so impressed, he said he wanted to send kisses to the chef because it was hands down the best vegan burger he’s ever had. The flavors were on point, and it’s clear the kitchen takes pride in preparing quality food, even for plant-based eaters.
However, one concern did stand out. While we were dining, we noticed a tray of food left uncovered, and unfortunately, seagulls began pecking at it. Instead of tossing the food for safety reasons, the staff simply had someone stand near the tray to guard it. That felt like a missed opportunity for stronger food safety practices.
Overall, we loved the meal and the atmosphere, but we hope management will take a closer look at how situations like that are handled. We’d definitely come back for those burgers—but with a watchful eye on the birds!

Excellent experience. We’ve been here before and enjoyed the food and service, so we’re back again and still like this restaurant. They make a variety of good food, but we like the stone fired pizzas. We got the Smokehouse and the Sweet & Savory and they were delicious. Delaney was super attentive and kept our cups full. She checked in with us just the right number of times. There is a cornhole game to keep the kids occupied and the big pizza oven is out on the patio so you can see your pizza being made. Great experience.

Got here at 12:30pm on a Saturday in August and we were seated right away on the patio. Lots of tables, all with umbrellas, 2 cornhole sets, oversized Jenga, a waterfall/fountain feature — really nice dining patio. Dogs are welcome.
I really like the way they do ordering here – it’s all online. It’s so much more efficient than waiting for a server to come and take the order. We placed an order for a couple of drinks and they were at our table within 2-3 minutes. Food was pretty quick too – and really, really good. We got the brisket tacos, brisket sandwich, and the kids burger meal. All were good portions with excellent BBQ flavor. Even the fries were perfect, regular & sweet potato.
After walking around the jam-packed downtown area, this was a nice oasis away from the crowds. Highly recommend if you are looking for casual outdoor dining.

Excellent service! Very pretty gardens surround their outdoor seating. Dog & children friendly. Games to play on the lawn next to the dining. Wood burning stove for pizzas.
Highly recommend the whitefish & chips dinner & the Brie pizza was delicious!
We also tried the ribs & burnt ends Mac n cheese… the meat was a bit dry on both. Aside from that we would return for salad, pizza, nachos next time.

Food could be better, but was excellent, the service was great, waiters were real nice, and the vibe was beautiful, flowers all around, outdoor pizza kitchen and bags that you can play. My burnt end Mac and Cheese was good, little heavy on the brisket, but my dog helped me out there. Speaking of that, dog friendly, lovely patio kinda nestled in a nook off the road, so you don’t have to hear the hustle and bustle. Overall, glad I came.

This is truly a hidden gem off the path & away from the crowds! We loved the atmosphere and the whole experience! Our group of 5 had a wonderful time. Our waitress was very cheery, gave great recommendations, and was quick for how busy ice house was! We had lunch Sunday @ 2pm and dined on the patio under the umbrellas. We were seated immediately. We all got drinks, appetizers and meals. I ordered the brisket, fries and baked beans which was fantastic and a salad. My husband had brisket tacos and fries. Everything was tasty! They even had a place to play bags while you wait. Music selection was really good too as we heard a little bit of everything. Totally glad I did research and found this place!!!
