If you are looking for a late night cheesesteak, I would recommend IB’s (but if Cheesesteak Shop or Mills Cheesesteak are open I might reconsider). However, there were a few flaws with my experience.
I ordered the Truffle cheesesteak but instead got the surf n’ turf (small $16). It was fulfilling, I added hot peppers and mushrooms too for $1 each along with Garlic Onion Rings (except when I got my order it did not come with garlic which was an extra $2). The cheesesteak itself was great quality of meat and decent portion. Bread on the cheesesteak was fluffy, cheese was spread reasonably, and the toppings hit just right. The onion rings looked big and plump (there were about 7 or 8) but there was only filling for about 2 of them while the rest were shells. Ranch was good, spicy sauce (not ghost pepper, next time I will try) was like Raising Cain’s but with a hit of spicy similar to siracha level.
Overall, for the $30 I spent, I would say this place is alright. I understand I went at the end of night so things were forgotten and the customer service was great (the cashier was friendly). I would try one more time to see how good the Lamb meat is. I am glad they use halal and ingredients seem to be fresh. Hopefully, I will rate this place higher when I return.

I love this place! I come for their chopped cheese. As a New Yorker who relocated to the Bay Area back in 2023, IB’s always satisfies my craving for this bodega favorite. The team is kind and service is quick every time I go. I highly recommend, especially if you want an authentic-tasting chopped cheese. (If you love a bit of spice, ask for the fire sauce!)

The food was mostly fine, the portions were large, and the woman (cashier/busser/waitress) who took our order was very helpful and personable. The problem was the acoustics. The person who is working at the grill is banging something loudly and frequently, very annoying, the decibel level is high. I don’t know that I’ve ever been in a restaurant that was that loud. If it’s a nice day, you could eat outside on one of their two 2-person tables, but I wouldn’t recommend eating inside there. Also, the watermelon lemonade, which the menu says is made fresh in house, wasn’t bad, but I don’t think I tasted any watermelon in it, and it didn’t taste particularly fresh.

I used to go to the IB’s in Downtown Oakland, was craving for a cheesecake, so picked up a BBQ Cheesesteaks with the works! It was super filling and delicious! So good on a cold day!

First time. Nice peeps, tidy space. There are a few tables outside too. Got the bacon steak. The portion size is very generous. I couldn’t hang and had to take the rest home. Will be back when I can finish my leftovers.

Listen, ppl you gotta try the garlic and chopped cheese. I have been searching high and low in oakland area fir the best cheesesteak and this is it in my opinion. I got them as get came, only thing maybe add extra cheese in each to give it that more traditional melt. If you love garlic u are in luck. Packs the perfect punch I didn’t even take a pic of mine I ate it too quickly. Ignore the 1 stars, ppl just overly sensitive, go for the sandwhiches!

My husband and I went to pick up our order, we went there being our first time through a recommended. Food is & did not disappoint! The chopped cheese is where it’s at! Hubby ordered the California burger. We will definitely be coming back again! Service was great too, my husband and I felt welcomed & the food was exceptionally delicious.
