This place is a hidden gem that I find myself coming back to every so often. Lately I’ve been getting their breakfast and I can’t say I’ve ever been disappointed and pleasantly surprised. I realize this a mostly a grocery store and people are doing plenty of other things but there are times that I’ve been here and there is no one around. I’ll even see people in the back and they’ll look at me and then disappear. This is not always the case but it does happen. In short: +Good food +Good Prices -Occasional avoidant/shy employees

P.S. I would put there Takeout as mid at best

Wait, What?!?! A Supermarket with a Bar-Grill Inside? Yes Please!

So the biggest problem with here is deciding whether to grocery shop first or eat and drink first? I would caution eating a drinking first, because they have a crazy happy hour with half-priced apps and taps (catchy, huh?), from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. They also have additional, daily food specials. Come here if you want good bar food, but keep in mind that while they serve steak and other specialty items, be cautious. This is a bar-grill tucked in a supermarket.

We started out with an order of the Colossal Wings ($10) which were jumbo, traditional or boneless, wings cooked with a choice of sauce: bbq, buffalo, teriyaki, or sweet chili. We went with the buffalo and had sides of ranch and blue cheese. The wings were solid—nothing great—and they hit the spot. We also ordered the Pepperoni Pinwheels ($6), which was pepperoni, pizza dough, a three-cheese blend, rolled up and served with a ramekin of pizza sauce. Embarrassingly, I learned of this only a year ago and have been playing catch-up ever since. For an entrée, I ordered the Spicy Thai Peanut Chicken Sandwich ($12) which was grilled chicken under Asian slaw, peanut sauce, sesame dressing, and chopped peanuts, served on a bakery bun. It was great, tasty, and had good flavors. I would only recommend using a thinner and wider piece of chicken because it was too dry and would cook better if it was thinner. My date ordered the Reuben ($11), which was corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island sauce, served on a toasted marble rye bread. She loved it and said it was delicious—lots of good flavors. Our entrees came with a choice of a side from an extensive list: hand-cut fries, sweet potato fries, plain baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes, tortilla chips and salsa, broccoli, wild rice, creamy coleslaw, fresh fruit, or a cup of the soup of the day. The kids ordered a cheeseburger (only $5) and that comes with a drink and a choice of side and dessert. They loved it.

Big shout out to Ethan, our server, who was fantastic. He ran food, brought drinks, and was one of the best servers I’ve seen in a while. We will be back and be back often for a good, inexpensive, dinner for the whole family. I really wish we can rate on the half-star because they deserve a 3.5 rating, but I will have to round down on this one.

Hey-Vee Market Grill: the speakeasy of grocery stores. Truly a hidden gem! If you find yourself here on a Sunday afternoon you will be able to indulge in a slower way of life. It will be quiet so you will hear each other as you eat and the prices will be incredible. I would recommend this to families with a lot of kids as it will be cheap and you won’t feel as if you are bothering the rest of the restaurant (nobody will be there).

Omg , my husband and I decided to check this place out before doing our grocery shopping and it was Amazing! We went on a Saturday where they had some awesome specials on beer and ordered some appetizers that were to die for! The staff were friendly and conversational it was a great experience and honestly made our grocery shopping more interesting

Went to grab food with family at 9:35. I’m now sitting in my vehicle going elsewhere. It’s 10:10. Was at the counter for at least 10 min. Not greeted, looked at, nothing. There was no line and multiple Hyvee employees were having causal conversations with each other. Urgency was no priority.

Can’t give accurate reading on food experience as…..we never got food. Just speaking on service.

I was there on a Tuesday night at 7:30 and tried to order a hamburger. I was told the grill was closed. Very disappointed. I left.

I have been going here for awhile, the new manager Chris, is friendly and customer like him, this location is upstairs but they do have a elevator, I like the special on food and beer, Wednesday is super cool promotion sushi and wine nite, everybody luvs this deal, you can’t go once just to get the feeling or the atmosphere of this place, that’s why I go several times,Thursday nite special on breakfast skillets or bowls, the dude that works this nite I really like, he explained what I get for this order and is very helpful not like the other stores

Worst experience. I went to grab a burger and waited 30 mins per the receipt. There were only 5 customers total sitting in the restaurant area (both levels). I finally went downstairs to get a refund and see my food was just sitting there waiting for someone to bring it out. When I mentioned that, I was told it was MY fault for not sitting on the lower level. When I asked why no one thought to check up stairs, I received the same response. When the manager came down to issue a refund for the food, no concern was given or apologies.

LOVE this location! Has a huge produce section that is always immaculate and well-stocked, w/fresh flowers, coffee shop and prepared take home meals right inside the door. Market Grille is upstairs for an unexpected, different way to have a nice dinner out w/drinks and daily Happy Hour. They also have hot/cold prepared foods if u want dinner to go. But the best reason I come to this location (even tho I live w/in 1 mile of a closer store) is for the Hibachi Grill! Choose your fresh meat, veg, spice, marinades, etc and they put it on the grill while u do some quick shopping. $9 w/leftovers galore as well as super fresh, healthy and delicious! A regular weekly dinner staple for me!

Perhaps I expected too much for their Thanksgiving Buffet. I’ve been there twice before, had their burgers; they were great! But the buffet today let me down. All white meat, no dark, cold rolls, soggy (and I mean SOGGY) stuffing. Scalloped potatoes were undercooked. The bright spot was the mashed potatoes/green onion/cheese/bacon combo was quite tasty. There was a variety of other side dishes, too, but they looked less than appetizing. There was a good variety of desserts as well, but nothing stood out. Really disappointed it was not a great experience for me. The price for this all-you-can-eat buffet was $19.99! Can you believe it? They even charged me $2.49 for tea! Just horrible! On the bright side I know what NOT to do next year. So hey, lesson learned.
