Worth the trip for the frybread alone. Burger on fry bread was excellent, and the mutton & dumpling stew is good too! Don’t expect fancy stew, this is simple food, but simply good. Add a little salt and pepper and it’s perfect. Super friendly staff, nice outdoor seating with shade, unforgettable lunch stop. It is worth the time to stop and eat if you are driving around north Arizona near the east entrance to the Grand Canyon.

I love Navajo tacos so had this place on my radar with our Grand Canyon visit. They did not disappoint!! Fry bread was crispy but soft in the middle and talk about huge! Hubby got the mutton myself ground beef. Delish!!! Service was great with super friendly people!! Highly recommend!
Excuse photo as I could not wait to take a big bite.

We drove from Page to the Grand Canyon today and specifically stopped here because of the 4.8-star rating on Google. I was really looking forward to a hearty Navajo meal to start my trip.
When we arrived, I realized it wasn’t a restaurant but a roadside stand. I actually told my boyfriend that sometimes these humble spots hide the best local flavors. Unfortunately, I was very wrong.
We ordered the owner’s recommendation and the most expensive item on the menu: the “Roast Mutton” ($20). The portion was disappointing. It came with a piece of fry bread, half a roasted jalapeño, half a cob of corn, two tiny potatoes, and a few thin slices of mutton. The worst part was the lack of flavor—everything was completely unseasoned, and we had to rely heavily on salt and pepper.
The food didn’t hit the spot. We had to drive to a nearby Burger King afterwards to grab a fish burger combo just to satisfy us.
I love supporting local small businesses and always try to find local gems when I travel, but supporting local shouldn’t mean ignoring quality or value. I really hope the owner can improve the seasoning and portions to truly represent Navajo cuisine for future travelers.

Stop here on your way to Page for some great fry bread . We stopped when we went and when we returned. We got a simple fry bread which was only $5.00. The portion was gigantic. The lady there was super nice and the order came pretty quick.

The best fry bread I’ve ever tasted. Driving from the Grand Canyon to Sunset Crater (or beyond), this restaurant is a can’t miss!!
We ordered the mutton sandwich and fry bread taco. Both were exceptional, but the mutton will live rent free in my mind. The fry bread was light, crispy and melted in your mouth, the mutton was rich and the (hatch?) pepper and homemade salsa balanced this perfectly.
Cannot recommend this authentic, local institution highly enough. Driving past would be missing out.

This was by far our favorite meal of our weeklong trip to Williams/Sedona/Flagstaff. Service was prompt, the food was delicious, and Maxine really made the experience unforgettable with her warmth and hospitality.
The fry bread was fresh, perfectly cooked, and generously topped, easily the best we’ve ever had. HWY 89 Yummy Shack is a true hidden gem, and we’ll be recommending it to anyone passing through.

Absolutely wonderful roadside gem! During a roadtrip south, we lucked upon this amazing, family-run food stand right off of 89A. We had the Navajo tacos and it was one of the best fry breads we’ve ever had. The fry bread dough was incredibly fresh (fried right in front of us), the bean mix was flavorful with perfect amount of spice, and veggies were the perfect complement to the dish. If you’re anywhere near the area, Yummy’s is a fantastic stop! Meet the super friendly family, and also check out their merch!
