I had a great experience here! The food was delicious, especially the fish and chips. The fish was crispy, filling, and cooked really well, and the fries were perfectly crispy too. I loved the mix of different fry sizes it added a nice touch.
The ice cream was such a nice treat to finish the meal. I got rum and raisin, and it was so good!
I also really enjoyed the rustic, retro beach vibe of the restaurant it made the whole experience feel even more fun and relaxed. The staff member who took our order, a kind older lady, was very attentive and genuinely nice, which made a big difference.
I’d definitely recommend this place and will be coming back!

Very unhappy with the quality of the fish. The oil was obviously too hot as the fish looked almost too cooked but when you bite into it, the batter isn’t even cooked. Fries were average. Coleslaw was very stingy. Thought I was ordering a decent size and got an individual container only half filled with your very basic green slaw. It was meh and won’t be coming back again.

We used to come to this place all the time before Covid.
I am not one to leave reviews but my wife getting food poisoning… felt it needed to be pointed out.

– To start the place is dingy, and unkempt. Looked like the place was falling apart.
– The cook was off in a hidden corner and the cashier came out from behind us while we waited at the front.
– My wife was second guessing ordering but I wanted to eat.
– We ordered burgers, poutine and milkshake.
– The cashier was really friendly and polite; My wife enjoyed chatting with her.
– However, when it came to our food preparation, we never heard anyone wash their hands.
– There was a hair in one of the milkshakes that went unnoticed till it came up in the straw near the end of the drink.
– The potatoes were cut in all different shapes and sizes.
Some over cooked and some barely. The gravy was a generic okay tasting brown sauce, with curds.
– The burgers were extremely over cooked, and had an awful smell to them.
– My wife took one bite and couldn’t stomach eating anymore due to the off putting smell and old meat taste. She did eat the poutine.
– About an hour or so later, she started getting really bad stomach cramps and started throwing up.

I really hope this place gets themselves back in order cause it used to be a Hamilton treasure.
Now its a disappointment.

My first time here; also the last.
Looks like there’s an outdoor ordering area for ice cream that is on their patio (was not open when we were there on a Thursday afternoon in july).
Otherwise order inside.
Old place, long narrow building.
We ordered one two-piece fried fish only (no chips) for $19, two draft beer $8 ea, and one chicken wrap $6.99.
Came to $48 (which seemed really high for what we got)
Took 20 minutes for us to get our beer because they only had one smart serve certified server on staff and he was “busy doing something else”.
They only have Coors and Canadian. Served in a plastic cup.
8 bucks.
Would have been so much better off ordering a milkshake.
They have 23 flavors of ice cream.
Wasn’t given utensils with our food, had to go back to ask for them.
Wrap was all right.
Fish was ok.
Beer was blah.
Food came out in about 15 minutes.
We ate inside; terrible atmosphere.
By that I mean they had a large fan which didn’t seem to do much for airflow but was so incredibly noisy that sitting right across the table from my friend, we could barely hear each other speak.
Perhaps if you took your food outside onto the patio (No umbrellas / no shade so that’s why we didn’t go out there) it wouldn’t have been so bad.
Prices shown in my photo of the menu board were accurate as of July 2025

Terrible experience. Fries were rock hard and like they have been sitting around for the day and then refried . The icing on the cake was the tartar sauce was expired. Do better.

Wow, place is a total dump. Food was barely edible. My daughters hotdog was different shades of brown green and pink….
In the 30 mins we were there, several homeless people were in and out, as we were watching them out the window, we then noticed bullet holes?!?!?? Unreal. Dirty, sticky tables, flies, horrible “decor” we all felt extremely uneasy there. Not to mention the prices . Which were expensive. 4 kids meals for 58$?!?! Crazy

Went over to Hamilton for a day-trip and stop by Hutch’s for a quick bite. We ordered a few things and were pleasantly surprised by the portions. Good price and value for money for what we got.

The Fish Tacos were great with the toppings, and the Fish Burger was quite good. The batter-fried Mozzarella Sticks and Pickles were a nice accompaniment too.

If I could rate this a zero I would.
Firstly, our first order of fish and chips were still raw under the batter. I returned and asked for them to remake it, they come back with extra burnt fish (basically just batter) extremely small as well. It was so burnt it crumbled.

I asked for a refund and said I didnt want it anymore. Gave me 50% of the cost back and took the food. The ketchup was old and watery.

As I was walking out the door and couple were returning with news paper full of fish and said their fish was raw as well. Absolutely horrible experience, will never return here. Advise all to keep your kids away, and save yourself from getting sick. The other hutches on the beach is 1000x better advised to go there instead. This establishment should just close its doors

Stopped by right after opening on a Sunday. Ordered large fish and chips with a side of onion rings and gravy. Fish was fresh, soft and juicy on the inside – really tasty dipped in the packaged tartar sauce. Onion rings were crispy. Fries were lacking this day, seemed stale in my opinion. Gravy was tasty, although could be salty to some. Outdoor patio seating is nice and additional tables by the parking lot.

Large selection of ice cream. Great option right after a walk by the water. I would mention though, that we found traces of other ice cream in our mint chocolate scoop. The staff should be more vigilant to rinse more thoroughly in between scoops.

We’ve eaten at this location and the one in Burlington. A go-to for fantastic fish & chips. I’m disappointed that this location, while allowing to order ahead, does not take credit card payments. Cash only. There is an ATM on site, however service fees apply.
Reason for 3 star rating is on our last order, I made the mistake of getting a corned beef sandwich which cost about $8. It was horrible! Literally dried pieces of meat on even drier rye bread. Didn’t even bother with mustard. It was barely edible. Shameful they would charge so much for something so atrocious. Stick to fish & chips to avoid disappointment. Ice cream is good too in summer time.
