Hurtado Barbecue
We visited Hurtado Barbecue today in Dallas and honestly, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish.
From the very first interaction, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful with our order. We chose a combo that was supposed to serve 6 to 8 people — we had more than 10 adults plus kids, everyone ate very well, and we still took food home. That alone says a lot.
The food quality is incredible.
Perfectly cooked meats, amazing flavor, well-balanced seasoning, and fast service. After a few days traveling around Texas, this was the place where we truly felt we were eating real Texas barbecue.
The environment also deserves special mention.
The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and well organized. The restrooms were spotless, and the men’s bathroom even had a baby changing station, which is a huge plus for families with children. Small details like that make a big difference.
We were a group of about 12 family members, and everyone was impressed.
Now heading back to Boston, we already know we’ll miss this place.
Hurtado Barbecue isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a full experience.
Highly recommended and absolutely unforgettable.

Was in Dallas for a night last weekend and got the opportunity to hit up Hurtado. Definitely worth the visit. Had only been to the original loc years ago. Really clean and great environment. Hung out at the bar and Jacob hooked it up. Good conversation when he wasn’t busy and a solid recommendation on food. Kept my beer glass full and provided a great experience.
The Hatch chile mac and cheese was next level. Everything was good but that might be the best M&C I’ve ever had.

Wow! What a great unexpected find! We really loved the ribs, sliced brisket, pulled pork and smoked sausage. Now let’s talk about the birria taco! Oh baby, the crunch, the cheese, the consumme, all delightful. Best birria taco that I’ve ever had, and priced at $6, I would order one every time.
The macaroni and cheese and potato salad were both really good, We didn’t really care for the corn, as it had a very overwhelming lime flavor, but everything else was top notch.
Sarah took great care of us, as did another friendly female worker, but we didn’t catch her name.
This place is great, and the only thing that would keep me from coming back, is the parking situation. It took us 15 minutes to find a spot.

We are visiting Dallas from Corpus Christi and we went here for the first time and got there when it opened. There was no wait, and a young lady came out and helped us with the menu, providing recommendations. She was extremely helpful. We got the El Jefe, which had a little bit of everything, with two sides. We also tried the queso, texas twinkie, and cornbread. It was all amazing. We will definitely be visiting this BBQ place again!

The baked potato at Hurtado BBQ was next-level — truly massive, perfectly loaded, and enough to feed three of us without even trying. Tender, smoky meat, incredible sauces, and portions that feel downright generous… what more could you ask for?
We grabbed a spot on the patio on a gorgeous Saturday, and I honestly haven’t felt that relaxed in weeks. If I had one (very minor) complaint, it’s that only one person was working the register, so ordering took a bit longer than expected — and the line wasn’t even that long.
But once the food hit the table? Totally worth the wait.

The food over all was good. The chicken was dry and the burnt ends were tough. The ribs and brisket were really good. I liked all the sides. I also got the beans but I assumed they would be BBQ baked beans but it was more like a charro beans. Thats my fault I should asked more questions. The bacon ranch potato salad was and the hatch chili Mac and cheese was absolutely awesome. The Mexican corn was good as well. I felt the price point was high for the amount of meat that you get.
