I rolled into Hungry Howie’s in Matthews and decided to put their flavored crusts to the test with two pies: a large pepperoni + pineapple and a large BBQ chicken with pineapple added (because obviously) and the sweet heat bacon crust… and yes, before anyone says anything, I’m proudly team pineapple (till the end of time).
Both pizzas hit the spot. Were they the best pizzas I’ve ever had? Not a chance. Did they taste like pizza and make me happy? Absolutely. Sometimes that’s all you really need. The pepperoni + pineapple worked as my sweet-and-salty go-to, while the BBQ chicken combo had just enough kick to keep things interesting. The crust flavoring is their signature gimmick, and honestly, it works.. it makes the last bites feel like part of the meal instead of a chore.
Hungry Howie’s is a “default acceptable” pizza stop. Not life-changing, not disappointing, just reliably good. And when you’re hungry and craving pineapple on a pie, that’s more than enough.

In a world where customer service seems to be a thing of the past, the customer service from the manager at this HH is refreshing. My son loves the pizza so we order a lot and Chris always takes care of us.

As a pizza lover, I need to say… for all the pizzerias around, this one got me as the best so far. The variety of options for crust flavors make me feel like, I have to try them all. I already tried garlic and butter cheese. Impossible to say which one is better. Looking forward to try the others flavors. Unlike some reviews here, I didn’t have any problems with them so far.

Our company does free food every friday for over 200 employees!! We had a late notice and this was the only place able to pump out 70+ pizzas!! amazing service, good pizza, and most importantly great and quick employees!

My first time ordering from Hungry Howies, here is a photo of how my $25 pie came, pretty sad. I asked the driver for napkins and he said he didnt bring any….atleast the pizza tastes ok. I doubt that I will order from them again.

Only reason I’m leaving 1 star is because I can’t leave 0! The lady on the phone right now (8/21/2025 at 8:06pm) is very rude talked to me like I was slow! I will never shop here again!! It’s a disgrace of a company! She does not need to be employed there!!! Very very very very rude!

This is how my pizza arrived. When I called the store a manager (who knows absolutely nothing about customer service) never even apologized. I told him I had a picture to which he stated “anybody can do that”.

We ordered 13 pizzas today for lunch last min. Not only were they ready on time and delicious, Chris made the whole experience pleasant as always! Chris remembers our names when we come in and always treats us kind and profesional. We will order again for our Hendrick crew.
