Our server was very accommodating to our table’s orders that came in waves as the night developed and our hunger was satiated. My recommendation for a group is starting with the *scallion pancakes and pan fried potstickers with chicken and cabbage. Then move onto a classic order of *xiao long bao soup dumplings, *shrimp shumai, and spicy pork wontons. We finished off with an order of the liang ban noodles, but I think an order of vegetables would have rounded out the meal better to break up the copious amount of dough. Everything we ate was absolutely outstanding and well priced for the quality. I marked my personal favorites with *asterisks if you’re looking to go as a smaller party of 2. The house-made chili sauce they added to their noodles and wontons wasn’t too spicy. If you’re looking for intense heat, you won’t find it here. Rather you’ll experience well balanced, savory bites of heaven!
Now for my standard comments. The location is clean and well kept. Comfortable indoor seating.
Came in on Christmas Day for dinner and drinks and was genuinely happy to find them open—this place has been on my list for a long time. We got there around 6pm and were seated after about a 10-minute wait, which felt like a small holiday miracle.
Since it was Christmas, a few items we were excited about were unavailable (specifically the matcha cocktail and mushroom skewers). Not ideal, but totally understandable given the day. We ordered cocktails and a couple of apps, which came out quickly and piping hot. The problem started with the mains—they took well over an hour to arrive. I understand holiday staffing issues, but some acknowledgment would’ve gone a long way. A small gesture like comping a drink or adjusting the bill would’ve shown some awareness. That didn’t happen, which was disappointing.
As for the food: mixed results at best. We had four cocktails plus the dry sake flight, and the drinks were solid across the board. Cucumbers were fine. Scallion pancakes were WAY TOO greasy. The stewed beef noodle soup didn’t leave much of an impression. The biggest miss, though, was the tomato egg noodles. That dish was a childhood comfort food for me, and this version just didn’t land at all.
Bottom line: good drinks, food that didn’t really deliver, and a long wait with no recovery effort. Still, it was Christmas, so I’m cutting them some slack and would consider giving it another shot on a regular day.
The pork knuckle was okay, but the seafood noodles were not tasty at all. The broth tasted like plain water, and the seafood was most likely frozen—it didn’t taste fresh.
We got the Pork Xiao Long Bao, Pork Hui Tou, and Minced Pork Noodles. The Pork Xiao Long Bao had a strong peanut flavor that I wasn’t a big fan of, but it was still okay. The Pork Hui Tou was the best of the dishes we got but it wasn’t particularly special. It was very oily and the wrapper was prone to breaking with the filling falling out. The Minced Pork Noodles were very bland and our least favorite of the dishes. We wanted some Lamb Skewers but they were out for the day.
Service was attentive and the interior was cute, food was a bit disappointing.
