We came in on a Saturday and it was busy. Our server let us know the food would take a while because of all of the dine in and to go orders plus they were down a grill. Despite all of that the service was great and food came out perfect! You could tell the staff was working hard.

We stopped bye to check out this place, when we walked in I noticed that most of the tables were dirty and I mentioned it to the staff. We found a clean table and we sat down and started talking. The 2nd waitress? came out to start cleaning off tables continued ignoring us. Then I made the statement that if we didn’t get service soon that I was going to fet up and walk out. One of the shift managers David then spoke with the waitress that was behind the counter and soon after she came over and asked what we would like to drink. She took our coffee order and soon afterwards we received our coffee. It tasted as if had been sitting there for hours. She came back to get our orders which were also messed up. My friend ordered scrambled eggs with cheese and sausage plate. Hers was correct. I ordered the same plate with OE eggs and mine was brought out to the taken as over hard. Big difference. Also enclosed a picture of my fruit that came with my meal. I never even touched it. Nasty. I would never serve this fruit or anything else that didn’t look right to a customer.
The waitress Brie as we found later was really trying to give us a nice experience, she brought more coffee and at least it was freshly made this time. You shouldn’t have to sit in an establishment like this for 10-15 minutes before you are acknowledged. Then food messed up when you finally get it. At least they made some fresh coffee and made that part of the experience a little more pleasant. David came over to talk with us and that was the most enjoyable part of our visit there. Not my best experience as you can tell. May try it again not sure at this time.

Loved the themed restaurant its the friendly place in that part of town. I had the strawberry syrup on top of the pancakes with the best sweet tea. Wonderful music and very friendly staff. First time getting food here. Cute doors that I thought was so darling. ☕

Greeted immediately. Inviting environment and pleasant staff, I would’ve love to had time to sit and eat but was grabbing something quick to go. Got one of the $5.99 meals and wasn’t disappointed, and a drink was included

I went to this huddle house when they first came to the area and I was so dissatisfied. That was roughly about five years ago. I went back today to give them another try and still very much a disappointment. My husband and I ordered to breakfast is the only thing that was good hot and fresh was the country ham. My waffle was hard I sent it back they bought it back hard and cold. I won’t give them a try again they just don’t have it right. The toast was so cold the butter could not even melt on the toast. The eggs were hard after I explicitly asked for them to be soft. I’m very picky so I always give very clear directions so we all can be happy . I won’t ever go there again I’m done

I have had two recent visits here and they were my first ones since before the lockdown.

My first return visit was in mid-October and early on a Monday morning, around 7:45am. The dining room was very clean and I was able to take a seat right away. I also had service immediately and ordered coffee and a Southwest Breakfast bowl with a biscuit on the side. About 10 minutes later breakfast arrived and it was incredible and looked as good as it tasted. I had an excellent visit. An easy 4 out of 5 stars in mid-October.

My second visit was on a Saturday a couple of weeks ago. This visit was later in the morning than previously, like 10am’ish. Night and day difference from my mid-October visit. Half of the dining room was closed. The open half was a wreck. There were about 3 booths occupied and I took a table near the entrance. Empty tables and booths had not been cleared or cleaned. Two servers were working the floor, mine and one in the back who sat talking with a customer most of the visit.

I asked to have my table wiped and ordered coffee before grabbing a menu. On this visit, I ordered a homestyle breakfast bowl with sourdough toast on the side. While I waited something was going on with a customer not happy with her bill (also my server) and she asked for a manager. My server walked towards the kitchen and started shouting for the manager. Then she was in the kitchen shouting the manager’s name again. I have a feeling my server and the manager were related. She was calling her “Auntie”. The manager eventually came out and the customer seemed to have a legit complaint. Their conversation was mostly loud enough to hear and IMOP “Auntie” could have solved this right away. She didn’t. She diverted and made excuses, and it just didn’t look good. In fact, it looked really unprofessional. It didn’t seem like too big a deal, to begin with as the customer was just asking for her bill to be adjusted but the manager was escalating and acting as if it was a personal attack. I’m pretty sure they lost a customer that day.

Back to my meal, my food arrived. The order was partially wrong. I received a side of home fries instead of toast. I pointed out that potatoes were already in the meal and that I ordered sourdough toast on the side. I was told sourdough toast was extra. She didn’t even acknowledge her mistake, and I then reiterated I had ordered toast, to begin with. So she says the kitchen made a mistake. To which I responded “I’m not placing blame. Can I just get some toast? Thank you.” About 5 minutes later she brought some toast.

My meal was okay I guess. Kind of bland and overly wet which I guess was from the sausage gravy. It didn’t have the kick that breakfast from my previous visit had. I finished, waved down my server, and eventually, she brought a card reader to my table so I could pay..

I don’t know if the place has high staff turnover or what but it’s just wild to me that a restaurant can go from good to bad so fast. It will be a while before I visit again.

Huddle House is a newish diner-style restaurant located on Kempsville Rd in Chesapeake.

Recently I’ve had a couple of really solid “Breakfast for Lunch” meals here. The dining area is actually quite large and there’s plenty of seating whether you’re by yourself or with a group of friends or co-workers.

On my first visit, I had their Garden Omelet for lunch. It was stuffed with green peppers, tomatoes, onions, and mushrooms and came with a side of hash browns and toast. This was an excellent no frills quick meal.

I went for a breakfast platter again on my second visit and this time I had everything including the kitchen sink. The dish was called the Southern Smothered Biscuit Platter. This started off with an open biscuit covered with several strips of bacon, then hash browns followed by a sausage gravy and cheese. Then add 2 eggs (to order) and crushed bacon bits. I got two words for ya. Food Coma! What a delicious breakfast platter.

Food came out in a decent amount of time. Waiter was nice and understanding when asking for substitutes and plastic silverware. Portions are pretty decent for the amount you are paying. This place has become routine for me and my friends at least once or twice a month.

Food was absolutely terrible!!! Seven people were seated and they couldn’t get out orders correct. It took over 30mins for the seven of us to be served from start to finish. The server was delightful but she had 5-6 tables at a time alone. I assume she may have written our orders incorrectly, either way it was awful service and we won’t be returning!!! Sour cheesebgrits, dry waffles, 30mins from start to finish bringing food out JUST HORRIBLE! Please just turn the corner and go to egg bistro the food is 100% better. BTW all the cooks were skinny… so I guess that was the problem.

out order/to go. Paid 42.00 including a tip for just standing and waiting for my to go order. I ordered a Big House BLT the menu says it comes with 5 slices of Applewood bacon. They only put 3 slices on the sandwich. As much as I paid for this sandwich I got a piece of lettuce a slice of tomatoe and mayo slapped on bread. Where is the rest of the bacon!! They know you don’t or won’t check you bag and open your entire order to see if it was done right. They have no integrity. I blame the chef and management. They know better. This is why businesses close down or go under. The place was empty might I add. I see why. Having staff that don’t care about paying customers. Remember no customers no job. I’m never going back.

Food was good except the holland Day sauce for my eggs, it was thick like pudding never had it like that, they need more practice or read packet directions closer.
Service was good and prompt.
Will go back and order other things
