This is an establishment that makes me realize that the grass is not always greener, the ambiance is welcoming. Leaving New Jersey for the west coast was not one of my best decisions. This is a family restaurant (It will not open a second before 5pm) , BYOB, great and humble staff. I did not have their speciality fried lobster, I am not into breaded food, but the grilled lobster amazing. I shed a tear it was so good. There is a liquor store across the street incase you are visiting from out of town like I was. The New England clam chowder is better than any award winning chowder that I have had in California. I will post this everywhere. Yes this is still my post that I will disseminate.

The food was okay but very over priced making it feel like I wont be back. The platter i got was around $50 and as you can see it’s not plated well nor offering very much. The brownie fudge ice cream dessert while not visually stunning did taste very good. Overall i agree with other reviews that this place is on the down end and needs to pick it back up with more value with the food.

Delicious food and awesome service. We had made reservations and were quickly seated. The waitress was extremely friendly and patient with us. The lobster bisque was amazing and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had ordered the special for the night. Seared ahi tuna with seaweed salad. It was delicious and well seasoned. Seared perfectly. Also don’t forget to add the French fried lobster to your meal.

We were looking forward to trying Howard’s, but were really disappointed. The restaurant is charming and comfortable and, if you can sit by a window, the view is lovely on the water. The bread was warm, but the butter was hard and cold! I don’t understand this.
The crab cakes had zero flavor. Just meh! The broccoli was hard and cold. The filet was downright terrible, stringy and chewy. For a 6 oz, $43 piece of meat, it should be edible!!
The other seafood dishes, scallops and flounder, were okay but nothing at all special. The children’s fried shrimp was pretty decent. The salads were good but definitely needed more dressing. I recommend the thousand island.
The waitress was lovely but we did have to ask for sweetener 3x.
This wouldn’t be a restaurant that we would return to.

Well, I kept expecting to have ANYTHING to complain about besides being a bit pricey, buuuut, ya DEF get what you pay for here!! Reviews are on point, food fantastic, service excellent, only gave 4 stars on atmosphere bc there was a few very large parties and they were pretty vocal, so it was a lot noise, but hey, sat night in LBI, what did we expect? ‍♀️ Seems to be BYOB, and they sell bottles of wine. Had the Lobster Bisque, (OMG GET IT. May very well be the best I’ve had, and I order it everywhere…) (DIP THE HOT ROLLS, YOOOOO!!) He got mussels (huge healthy portion, said they were great, I dont eat them, lol!) and we shared a 6pc shrimp cocktail (coulda been bigger for price, but were def fresh and clean and tasty!), cocktail sauce was kinda weak, (not the selfmade stuff us real seafood lovers make!). Lastly surf and turf with (you guessed it!) their FAMOUS FRENCH FRIED LOBSTER!! ABSOLUTELY BALLER. BUY IT. Steak was nice size cooked to order and only very barely seasoned, as a true cut of prime filet ought be. Well done!! 9.8 outta 10, (until you add tomatoes to my house salad!!) Btdubs, advise making a reservation, walked rt in on time and seated immediately!! ❤️ from Philly!!

Howard’s is a higher class restaurant in the area, and otherwise has a slightly higher standard expectation of dress than the other local seafood restaurants. The food is solid but there are some items that are on the blander side. The brownie dessert (especially the ice cream) is very rich and very good. They also had kid items like mini cheese pizzas and fries. The servers were very attentive, and we came as a wedding party. The food did not seem to suffer from the large group we had.

Fresh, fantastic seafood with many preparation options.
We had the seared tuna cooked rare (perfectly!), Swordfish as fish of the day (also prepared perfectly), and then the fried shrimp which was not heavily breaded.
Excellent service from Clark, and as always a wonderful dining atmosphere.
You don’t have to, but they now accept reservations via Open Table and I highly recommend you do so

Was there few weeks ago and food was great. Went on 9/2 and don’t know what happened. Usually get new England clam chowder, was missing flavor seasoning and clams. Got bowl and was not filled. Felt I was getting the last of what was left for the nite. Bread was stale. Husband got crab cake and fried lobster. Crab was shredded beyond belief. Did not know what he was eating, had a weird taste. Not sure if fresh. The fried lobster was greasy and not sweet, broccoli was raw. Will never go again after labor day.

We went for dinner as a family, and had great service, but the food and atmosphere were lacking. The mussels appetizer had an off-putting amount of raw grated garlic (and I love garlic) – so much that we had several mussel shells completely filled with raw garlic. The shrimp scampi had almost no flavor and a watery sauce, while the broiled seafood sampler had a good selection of fresh fish. The shrimp & scallops were delicious, however the flounder was very overcooked, and the crabcake was inedible (mostly fillers with barely any crab, and an unpleasant flavor). Broccoli was barely cooked, but the coleslaw was good. The atmosphere was cold and somewhat cheap feeling, but our server was warm and efficient. I would not recommend having dinner here.
