Unfortunately, the overall experience fell short, starting before we were even seated. Despite having a reservation, we still had to wait in line for about 15 minutes, only to be told we had to wait or sit in the bar area to eat. That was frustrating and not what most people expect when making a reservation.
The food was a major letdown. We waited a very long time to get our food.
The French onion soup was completely inedible — the flavor was so off that it tasted like dirty water, and I couldn’t get more than a bite down.
The fries (pictured) looked and tasted like they had been dropped into a cold fryer. Pale, soggy, and lacking any crisp or seasoning.
The lobster was overcooked, tough, and rubbery, and the prime rib was so bad that I chose not to eat it at all.
We’ve had good meals here before, which makes this visit confusing and disappointing — what happened? The staff clearly cares and works hard, but the kitchen needs serious attention. I’d come back for drinks, but unless the food improves, I wouldn’t recommend dining here.
We had stuffed mushrooms and sirloin medallions with a caramelized blue cheese for appetizers they were fabulous.
Main course was petite filet and lobster (that’s kinda our normal anniversary meal) it was beyond fantastic.
Everything about that evening was epic, thanks House of Embers for making it so.
House of ember and learn some of their stories in Wisconsin dells, and of course enjoy the food.
The 6oz South African Lobster tails were excellent. They were tender, juicy, and quite large unlike the lover tails you get at chain restaurants. We were very happy. We wanted to add those onto our meal instead of the 5 oz Canadian Lobster Tails. To add those on is an up charge of $29.99. We asked how much it would cost to add two of the South African Tails on. It was $54.99 each but an entire meal which included 2 tails, soup or salad, potato and bread was only $99. We were confused at why it would cost more to add on two tails which didn’t make sense so we just got the whole meal for $99.
We both had the beef and barley soup. We didn’t care for it but it was still decent. The veggies that came with my tails were really good.
It was busy and the service was kind of slow but we did get taken care of.
The atmosphere reminded us of a cheap Chinese restaurant with shower curtains randomly hanging up. LOL. We got a good laugh. But it was nice and we enjoyed it.
I had the Blueberry Moscow Mule. 5 star all the way. It was tasty. The firecracker shrimp was really good too.
We will definitely go back and we high recommend giving them a try.
