The winner of the “Best Fried Chicken” list from Best of Boston 2025 is right on my doorstep! It was my first time trying the famous Nashville Fried Chicken, and although I’m not usually a big fan of fried chicken, it was truly delicious!
Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich: I chose mild spicy, which was just right for me. The chicken was made to order, a size larger than the bun, and very thick; the crust was thin and crispy without being dry or hard, cracking open with a gentle bite, and the chili powder added a kick to remove its greasiness. The chicken itself was surprisingly tender and juicy, retaining its original flavor. It definitely deserved the title of “Best Fried Chicken”! The coleslaw, usually served as a side dish, was simply placed on top of the fried chicken, with classic mayonnaise and vinaigrette dressing—a sweet and sour flavor, more on the sweet side, was both refreshing and delightful. However, it was obvious that assembling such a burger was difficult, resulting in a blissful mess by the end…
Old Bay Waffle Fries: My first time trying fried potatoes shaped like waffles. Personally, I thought the middle was okay, but the edges were a bit dry and hard, and it felt greasy without ketchup.

When I’m having a bad day, I get a glorious fried mushroom sandwich from Hot Chix and it immediately makes me feel better. Lusciously soft bun, perfectly crispy, spicy but not greasy mushroom, fresh cole slaw!! Got to share this place with some of my friends today and we got some delicious, well-seasoned fries waffle fries with the ultimate contrast of crispy exterior and pillowy, hot interior, and some of the best mac n cheese I’ve had nearby. Alex is such a joyful presence and also gifted us two (gorgeous, flaky, warm, buttery) honey butter biscuits. Grateful to live in a neighborhood with Hot Chix!

Amazing fresh fried chicken! Would absolutely come again but next I will remember that they really bring the spice here. Had plain on the tenders and it was just perfect. Mild was a bit to much for me though I really can’t do spice… the only criticism I’d have is the price but it is Boston after all. I really liked the sign in the window, but I think some might find it offensive.

Food + service = no notes! As a Southern gal, I have to say this was some of the most flavorful food I’ve had in the Boston area. The crispy chicken and fries were seasoned to perfection, and the sauce was a flavor and texture Raising Cane’s wishes it could pull off. Alex, one of the owners, even made me fried pickles on the spot after I made a totally off-menu request. Now that’s some real southern hospitality-I will definitely be back! If you’re anywhere nearby and craving some, fresh, crispy, and flavor packed bites, do yourself a favor and go 🙂

I visited with my fiancé, who are both born and raised Southerners, and we had an excellent experience at Hot Chix Boston. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and it absolutely delivered — perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and a seriously generous portion. The sauce was exceptional and tied everything together with just the right amount of heat and flavor. The fries were spot-on — crispy, well seasoned, and clearly made with care.
What really made the visit stand out, though, was the owner, Alex. Without us even asking, he surprised us with a custom dish of fried pickles despite the fact it wasn’t an item on the menu, and they were unreal. That kind of friendliness and generosity is rare and it made the whole experience feel personal and memorable.
Overall, the food was a solid 9/10, but Alex was a 10/10 for his hospitality. Great food, great vibes, and amazing service — I’ll definitely be back.

Hot Chix Boston is a Chicken Sandwich and quick service meal place located in the heart of Cambridge. We found this while driving by, and decided to stop in and grab a bite.
The place has some nice atmosphere, with many tables throughout. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and made the meal quick and didn’t make us wait too long. There could be more decor, but the decor they did have was pretty unique and fits the vibe of the restaurant.
As for the food, it was good. The Nashville Hot Chicken was juicy and had good flavor, and the chicken patty was crispy and went well with the ingredients. We also tried the Old Bay French Fries, which were good, though I thought it could’ve had more seasoning.
Overall, still a great spot to visit in the area.

Surprisingly friendly service for a fast-casual spot. Alex smiled every time he spoke with me and even thought to offer me water as I waited for my food. The hot chicken sandwich scratched the itch: juicy, crispy/crunchy, and even their mild has a bit of kick to it! Overall impressed by an experience that easily could have been mediocre but instead has me ready to come back.

I’m very surprised at how good both the sandwiches I got were. I first tried the Nashville hot chicken sandwich which was really good spicy & flavorful, after that I got the the fried shrimps sandwich which I must say was my favorite. Really nice & crispy & very delicious just overall great when your around the area in the mood.

Really amazing food here! My chicken sandwich was perfectly fried and had just the right amount of spice. The coleslaw and pickles helped as well and it was a good size along with a generous portion of fries. The biscuits are also 10/10 and I cannot recommend them enough (huge shoutout to Mary—she makes them and they’re awesome).

Fries were crispy to perfection only con is the ketchup had high fructose corn syrup . Mac n cheese was too gooey for me. Sammich was delicious we had hot spicy level and will be coming back!
