A great place to meet new people, grab drinks, and their catering to a billiards crowd is attentive and detailed. Nice tables, sticks, lighting, and chalk. However the Achilles heel of this place and the reason I will never return is the nightmarish, and inexcusable parking lot situation. If this was a way to trap people in to a impromptu demolition derby then I would be rating this place a 5 star because that’s exactly what happens when you stuff 75 cars in 15 car capacity parking lot and seal off every exit with concrete barriers except the entrance you used to come in. Then get everybody drunk and send them out at the same time to drive without any parking attendants, road cones, or direction. Now the silver lining during this event that will cost you your car, is the never disappointing, and always above expectations is the smoke shop across the street. They are awesome and I love going there. Great products, wide variety of stuff, and super nice staff.

This place is a misunderstood gem. The food is superb. The people are actually great it’s like cheers. The prices are excellent for the portion size more than enough to take home. And the service is phenomenal. Don’t let past history or the outside fool you. Please go see for yourself you won’t be disappointed. It will become one of your favorite staples as it has mine. Every time I go back home to visit, it’ll always be a stop or three for me.

The service, drinks, food, and atmosphere were excellent!!! The waitresses were very friendly and attentive, but not overly attentive. Mary was an excellent waitress and made very good recommendations! She was very helpful and friendly!! The lightly steamed oysters were the Sunday special and were perfect! The Burl balls, the Burl Burger, and onion rings were very tasty!! I can’t wait to come back to enjoy this place even more!!

Would be a 5 star if there was no smoking except for outside the patio area.
Outside of that I loved my visit. It is a friendly biker bar and the vibe was very cool. Good looking waitstaff with friendly personalities. Very cool. Definitely recommend visiting. They also have pool tables.

The service was poor. We ordered 2 meals. One was a hamburger with pickle, onion, and mustard. A cheeseburger with correct toppings was brought to table. It was sent back and then a plain burger returned without any toppings. The other order was the grilled hooker. It came with butter and buffaloe sauce. Had to wait on cocktail sauce. Menu said fresh seafood included fries and coleslaw. Apparently the grilled hooker isn’t considered fresh seafood. Attaching picture of Menu, maybe it others don’t think the fries and slaw are included. I don’t know if they were under staffed or why everything took so long.

The atmosphere is more lent to a younger crowd, still had a really good time. The food has got to be the best seafood in Newport News. Drove by this place for years, wish I had stopped in sooner. Most tasteful fries, biggest & well split shrimp, crab legs, scallops I’ve had in this state. Don’t let the outer appearance intimidate you, the food is amazing. It’s not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for, & that’s all I ever ask for. Great customer service as well! Oh, you can ask for no Old Bay if you prefer.

We were in to see a band, got there late and ordered off the late menu. Had Cod bites there were delicious. We were hoping to get the open face pizza sub to share. Recently me and my boyfriend stopped in for lunch. It was delicious. We even ordered dinner to go from seeing another customer buy the grilled Tuna salad for lunch. It was delicious.

Pre covid I enjoyed eating at Hoss’s. Today was hubby and I first time back and the drinks was watered down, the Oyster Rockefeller had lots of filling but the oyster was the size of a clam ( I sent it back). The nachos was delicious and the wings where great. The waitress was nice but serve was slow. All n all I will give them another chance.

Bambi was amazing! She really took great care of me at the bar and made the whole experience feel easy and fun. The catfish bites with fries and that aioli sauce hit the spot, especially during happy hour. Great service, great vibes, and definitely worth coming back for!

With a soft playlist humming in the background and well cooked popcorn shrimp, Hoss’s Deli made me feel at home.
The atmosphere had me reminiscing of Houston, with colorful lights beaming throughout, car plates hung on a wall and enough tvs to see a game with every turn, I was brought back to a vibe similar to my hometown’s bars across Galveston.
The servers are busy and hardworking at every hour, always quick to get your order to you.
And of course, the meal was fantastic all around. Recommend the popcorn shrimp to anybody new here.
