I’ve been wanting to try out this restaurant after hearing about for Restaurant Week about two years ago. My relative and I finally got to try it on December 27th, 2025. It was super cold that day. We came an hour before opening because we were unaware when they opened. As we were headed back to the car to leave, the owner, manager or just someone who works there happened to arrive at that exact moment and invited us in on the spot despite being an hour early.
It is such a friendly moment. The person seemed to be quite excited for us to be there and got more excited when I mentioned it was our first time coming here. We got inside and my relative and I found a table. The restaurant is super cozy! The interior is warm, welcoming, and has beautiful decorations.
My relative ordered a BBQ sandwich with chips and I ordered a cheeseburger with chips. We were both super satisfied with our meal. That was one of the best tasting burgers I’ve ever had. I was so close and tempted to ask for another one to take home. The same person who let us into the restaurant also waited on us and he continued to make us feel welcomed. He is super friendly.
I cannot wait to go back to this restaurant! Highly recommend!

We loved our experience here. We stopped in to meet with friends, but we just missed them. But we decided to stay and have dinner because we loved the vibe. The staff was amazing, very helpful with recommendations and even letting us try some samples before we decided on drinks. There was live music too, which was nice. Lots of space too, which is nice for us because our son is on oxygen and we have to bring his stroller in. We tried the pork belly for appetizer, which was delicious and came out on the cutest presentation. We shared the bacon bbq burger and wings. Everything was delicious. We will definitely come back.

Came right when they opened. The Traditional Pretzel was fresh, hot, and delicious. They had my go-to Happy Dad flavor, grape. Service was quick and Billie Jo was excellent. Looking forward to coming back for more!

I’m kinda in shock. This was the best restaurant experience so far in my 74 years!
The bloody Marys were delicious, with a hearty piece of perfectly cooked bacon, dill pickle wedge, and olives.
The chicken wings were beyond amazing. We had the “plain” buffalo wings, altho there was nothing plain about them. They were crispy and they were smoked! And served on a quarter sheet pan with lots of celery and blue cheese dressing.
The two bartenders were entertaining and attentive. We will be back!

The bad news is that there are very few meal options at UConn. The good news is that Hops is great! Good food! Fun atmosphere! Really lovely staff. Clean (especially given the volume of people). Owners are always there checking on customers.

This is a really good local hangout near UCONN. The food was good and the service was good. The beer selection was just right, but I was disappointed they were out of the one beer that I wanted. Their wings above average. We tried some dry rubbed wings and enjoyed them. I make my own wings at home and do a damn good job of it. Not that I’m bragging or anything. Wink wink. So when I say that about Hops 44 wings it’s a strong compliment. I got a steak salad that was so big I couldn’t finish it. It was good, but I would have liked a different dressing. If you’re in the area looking for some good pub grub and some good suds, go to Hops 44.

From beginning to end, this restaurant was so phenomenal words cannot really express the immense flavor, freshness and kindness the staff showed me and my friend our first visit.
Everyone was so made with love each bite felt like I was home eating my grandmothers food.

Update: I came and dined with a large party on the patio. The food was mostly good and the atmosphere was pleasant. Nachos were lackluster. There was live music. However, our server was horrendous, was not attentive at all. He pushed our party into splitting the bill evenly which is unfair since we were the couple that did not have any alcoholic drinks. Nor did we order another entree to bring home. $90 for nachos and 2 sandwich entrees is really outrageous. If you come with a large party be sure to be clear about wanting split checks.
Has a dog friendly patio and a dog menu. Staff were all friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend the crispy cauliflower with Thai chili sauce and Nashville chicken burger. Wings were also very good. I liked that the table gets a carafe of water. Reserving a table through the website was simple. Plenty of parking.
