They have 3.9 stars and now I know why.
Watch the video attached. Look at the nasty separated cheese sauce.
Also look how skimpy the boneless wings are and dry looking. We ordered 20 of mild and 20 of parm garlic. Both tasteless and dry and cold.
New menu. I’ve tried the clam chowder, blackened chicken Caesar salad (only 430 calories with dressing), Turkey burger, and the Hooters salad (Cobb). Ranch is handmade like original Hidden Valley back in the 70’s with fresh buttermilk. Oysters are back as well as Monday burger special and Wednesday Wingsday special.
We came for the Bears Packers game. Every restaurant in the area was packed of course. This place had a couple spots at the bar so we figured we got lucky.
They told us initially we weren’t allowed to order food. They couldn’t remember whether it was an hour or a half hour they’d been told to hold off on taking orders. But they were certain they couldn’t sell us any food for a while.
We ordered a couple beers and waited. Maybe a half hour. We noticed the kitchen seemed to be prioritizing takeout orders. Our waitress still wasn’t willing to take our order, so we ordered through Uber Eats for pickup. Long story short, our food was ready an hour and a half later – which was the best possible outcome, because nobody else was still even “allowed to order”.
That’s wild on its own for sure. But I get it. It’s a packed night. Predictably packed, but who knows. They get a couple call ins in the kitchen and things fall apart. I get it.
But then there was the bar service. They had one bartender trying to keep up with the whole place. We’ve all seen it before. One desperate bartender running around multitasking and busting out drinks. That…wasn’t the case here.
I wouldn’t say she was being lazy, necessarily. But she had some sort of issue. She forgot our order…the same order, mind you…three times. She then half-made one of our drinks, and then sort of lost focus and wandered onto another task. I got to stare at my half-poured beer, sitting on the tap shelf, for probably 10-15 min. I was able to flag her down eventually – which seemed to jog her memory and she went and finished making our drinks. It was like watching a goldfish try to solve a sudoku.
I could go on and on about the little bits of chaos that contributed to the experience. But I don’t know that it’s worth it.
On a predictably busy night, they got slammed and overwhelmed. Then struggled to muster even the basics to try to service the patrons.
I would say it made us mad but everyone sitting at the bar just sort of found it so ridiculous we kind of found it funny.
If they’re not busy, and you’re in the mood for what hooters has to offer, maybe your experience will be better than ours.
But if they’re busy, I would advise you to grow some trees, cut them down and turn the lumber into planks. Then build a chicken coup. Buy some chicks and raise the chickens yourself, slaughter them, cook the wings yourself. Brew your own beer and distill your own alcohol. While it will be hard work, it will be rewarding. And you can rest knowing you got it all faster than the restaurant could.
