We had a relatively mediocre experience here at Hooper Bay Café, the breakfast option available in the Hilton hotel in Anchorage. Everyone there was super friendly, including the person who seated us and especially our server. Even the person who made my omelet was very nice although he had a bit of trouble with the egg whites base I had asked for, he seemed visibly frustrated with his own efforts. I assured him everything would be OK and enjoyed how it tasted anyway.
There is enough to eat, though nothing was particularly fantastic. Having an omelet station definitely ups the anti-on a breakfast buffet, but generally speaking we find hotel buffet breakfast to be awfully expensive for what you get and wish that they offered more à la carte ordering options instead of the expensive continental, or even more expensive hot breakfast like here.
The coffee was OK. I definitely like really strong coffee, and this wasn’t it, but it was a step above the brown water you can get at some establishments.
For me, the star of the breakfast were the potatoes… We’ve been at a few other hotels on this trip, where the potatoes were awful over fried, and not particularly edible. These were well done and a nice addition to the buffet offerings.
There are other places to eat in town… Even better places for breakfast. But if you’ve got an early flight and don’t have time to explore the area around the hotel, this is probably your only option. Hotels probably rely on that for convenience which is why the prices are what they are.
In the end, if you can swing it, I’d recommend getting out of the hotel. You’ll get better food at a lower price.

Convenient, but the menu is the dance. Proteins include sausage, bacon and omelets. Bread option is minimal, wakes are soggy, potatoes are plain and eggs are runny. Tough to vary the options but for $28 we should have more variety. Service was friendly but slow. No muffins, no English muffins or bagels out after the first day. But, I heard someone ask for the them and they gave her a bagel from the back.
