This crab boil was an unbelievable experience, we are from Southern Maryland and we know crab, shrimp and lobster; all kinds of seafood. This was THE BEST. Even the cajun shrimp alfredo was the best. Ask for our waitress “Lala”. Best ever. Can’t wait to go back.

The Hook and Reel in Silver Spring is absolutely fantastic. I’m only sorry I didn’t figure this out sooner.
The food is fresh and delicious, and the bartender/server, Brennen M., is the best! He’s friendly and personable, polite, attentive, and makes the best drinks I’ve had anywhere in the area (made to order)! Seriously, he’s phenomenal.
Also, the restaurant has old school regulars hanging in a pub type of vibes. I love that. I highly recommend going to this restaurant on the regular. Sit at the bar when Brennen is working if you want an exception experience.

I went with some friends that love seafood. I’m like seafood also but perhaps I enjoy catfish and grilled seafood. The friends raved about this “boil bag” I figured it was similar to what I experienced in Louisiana. It was in size, shape and in the voracity that they reached in the bag. There were too many hands in the bag at once.
I was forced to wait for my chance, I ate hush puppies in the meantime they were good but when I got around to eating the stuff in the bag it was lackluster. Another friend compared this place to Long John Silvers.

I come to Hook & Reel in Wheaton, MD a few times a year. Ive been to other H&R’s and nothing compares to this location. Everytime I come im always greeted w a warm welcome and immediately feel at home.
There’s never a wait to be seated and im always greeted by the server immediately.
The staff is always in a cheery, happy mood.
Sometimes my company may have multiple questions or even sometimes repeat concerns and not once have I felt an annoyance from the staff.
Food always comes out, fast, efficient, and the temperatures are correct.
I never feel rush or in a hurry unlike some places where you can tell the server just wants you in and out.
The servers never overly check on the table… Just enough to show attentiveness.
I honestly always feel more than welcomed and I can say this is my kitchen away from home lol.
Thanks for being here and making me feel at home.

Service started off lovely until the lights went out. Our server was amazing and did her best to accommodate us, but the host, Jessica, was extremely rude and lacked basic customer service skills. My family and I visited this Hook & Reel location on 10/08/2025 around 12:05 PM, and we will not be returning.
Despite the power outage, instead of closing until the issue was resolved, the restaurant decided to continue service by giving customers real candles and having the cooks and servers work in the heat with no air circulation. It was uncomfortable and unsafe. Our server truly tried to make the best of a bad situation, but management’s poor handling of the incident ruined the experience.

I give this place five stars from the start to the end when we walked in it was very welcoming. We were seated within 30 seconds. The atmosphere is very nice and a sight to see. The location is great. Plenty of parking. The music is not too loud that you could still have a conversation. Happy hour deals were great/cheap. The food was wonderful/delicious and good portions with lots of options even breakfast. The service we received from Joey was top tier she went above and beyond without micro managing checking on us periodically in a timely manner. I’ll definitely come back here again.
