Went here on a Friday evening for an early mother’s day dinner. We were able to be seated immediately and had great service. The food came out quickly, and was piping hot. Once I realized the spices were all at the sides of the bag, I was happy with my order. The cocktail selection is also a good one.

I’ve been to multiple Hook & Reel locations and the Wheaton location is head and shoulders above the rest. The first thing that you’ll notice as you walk in is the cleanliness – the place just sparkles, particularly at the bar (which I frequent). I work in Wheaton so the two times I typically drop in are during lunch or Happy Hour, and it simply never disappoints. I got to admit – I am often shocked at how empty the place is, but I assume that means that the bigger crowds come on the weekends. In any event, Jackie, Nicole and the crew behind the bar are courteous, competent and friendly. The bar has a TOUCHTUNES jukebox which is always a plus, allowing the patron to set the music and the mood through their own iPhone. The beer and wine is ALWAYS ice cold, and the food is – for lack of a better word – EPIC. Try one of the “mini boils” and if you like your seafood spicy, order it “hot.” If fried fish is your thing, and I don’t say this lightly, Hook & Reel has the best fried catfish I have ever tasted. Seasoned breading, not overly greasy, and a generous portion along with fries. I have also had the clam chowder which is a great value at $6 and will REALLY be a good way to warm up when Autumn approaches! I always have a great time here at lunch and usually have TOO great of a time at Happy Hour(s)! Trust my opinion on this place!

I was excited to see the advertisement of this restaurant within the Wheaton Shopping Mall. The picture of the seafood boiler mix was so alluring that I felt that I must try it. The restaurant was right outside the mall by the Costco side. The interior was quite nice but it was probably designed to host large crowd. The bar was right in front of the main entrance that was a little intimidating. Perhaps because of my relatively high expectation of the seafood boilers as advertised, as that was supposed to be their specialty. I was quite disappointed with its quality. It was kind of cute to see the seafood mix served in a plastic balloon, but eat them from it was not as pleasant. There was only one pasta dish on the menu. The taste was so so. However, the chicken wings were great, so was my Mango margarita. The waiter Dante was quite friendly. With 20% tip, it costed us a little over $50 per person.

I attend multiple hook and reels especially I am always at the Greenbelt restaurant and I always have a great experience there. However, the Wheaton Hook and Reel management can be very rude and unprofessional. I ordered my food one day and asked for a replacement for one of my sides which did not come out. Literally the cook or the manager came running out in a nasty demeanor telling me what I could and could not have as a side when I have already ordered it over the phone. I will never refer anyone to this Hook and Reel. Sometimes the food is half done as well as management trying to charge you for every little thing even down to Old Bay seasoning. Be aware they might charge you for napkins and forks next. They really need to step up on their customer service skills and how they treat (everyone). Lastly, I just want to reiterate I eat out all the time and have no problem spending money and it is usually done in upscale restaurants so for me to receive treatment like this I don’t have to patronize a place like this with my hard earned paycheck. I hope this rectifies your customer service!

The boils are underwhelming and under seasoned. Corn had no flavor neither did the chicken poboy which was very disappointing, the poboy bread was too thick for the sandwich the pickle wasn’t even quality(soggy). There are better spots for seafood in the dmv.

Phenomenal experience. Excellent fresh seafood, clean interior, speedy service, efficient staff makes this place a must. From the time we ordered until our food hit the table was less than 10 minutes. We got the seafood broils and I definitely recommend them. The crabmeat fries were also amazing. We will absolutely be returning.

Nice ambiance. It was my first time eating from this franchise and the food and.portions were great. You can see samples of the location below. The prices are very reasonable and I didn’t get sick so that is a plus.. The person that was serving was great and the aura was inviting and to the point. I will visit again.

My family and I are huge fans of Hook and Reel and order from them quite often. This location was so disappointing. Had this been my first time trying Hook and Reel it would have been my last. Luckily, I know how good the food is at other locations.

Well, it’s a knock off of another of my favorite restaurants, H & J. Service was fine. Had a head-on shrimp boil. Mild w/ garlic butter sauce, lack of I should say. Mediocre flavor, sausage was just sliced kielbasa NOT andouille. Calamari was good, crab balls were not. They’re made w/ claw meat, filler, & shells. Sauces are fast food restaurant packets, very disappointing. Ceaser salad was skimpy, mostly lettuce. Oyster basket ok, they’re freezer to fryer. Expensive, won’t be back. Sticking to H & J.
