Hon’s Wun-Tun House is an absolute go-to for dumplings and Hong Kong–style comfort food. Visited in May, 2025.
If you’re looking for a place that really delivers on wontons and dumplings, Hon’s Wun-Tun House absolutely deserves the praise.
Sui kow are a standout here: juicy Chinese dumplings filled with meat (often pork), shrimp, and crunchy add-ins like water chestnuts, wood ear mushrooms, or bamboo shoots—served in a warm, aromatic broth that feels like the ultimate classic.
And the xiao long bao? Delicate little soup dumpling “pouches” made with thin wrappers, traditionally packed with fragrant meat filling (usually pork) plus rich broth inside. The broth is added as a gelatin that melts during steaming—so you get that iconic burst of soup with every bite.

I came to this restaurant because of many positive reviews. But upon arrival, I felt completely uncomfortable because the waitress, who seemed middle-aged, asked us questions when we ordered. She appeared annoyed, and I even felt like they were speaking in her own language. Their food and noodles were delicious, served quickly, and the milk tea was fragrant! My only suggestion is to improve the service so the restaurant can become better.

Came here for some wonton noodles and some other side dishes. It was good and the food came out fairly quickly. The highlights were the wontons and the pea shoots with garlic. The fried rice was good too. The salt and pepper fish filets were slightly under fried, but tasty. The Beef Brisket & Wuntun Noodle Soup was underwhelming. The beef was okay, but the highlights were the wontons. I should have just ordered the wonton soup instead. I would return if you’re in the area.

Unassumingly great spot for authentic Cantonese food. The servers were attentive and quick. The Shanghai-style pan-fried soup dumplings were surprisingly good (and very hot, so be careful ). The wonton noodle soup was also really tasty. Highly recommended!

The restaurant is in the busy Chinatown, but besides visiting on the weekend it was relatively fast to get a table. I ordered the wonton noodles with beef, and the service was a not super receptive and didn’t offered any drinks or water. The noodles were good and have a nice portion, and the taste was good. The restaurant didn’t refilled the hot sauces – which I was willing to try. Overall the place has fair prices and worth trying food, so if you’re very into Chinese food it’s a spot worth checking.

Pleasantly surprised by this unassuming Chinatown staple. We had delivery and everything was delicious. I especially loved the green onion pancakes, Shanghai Pan fried soup dumplings, and seaweed and shrimp wonton soup! My husband loved his king pao chicken too. Definitely going to be a regular for this place now.

Be sure to make a reservation else be prepared to wait. Extensive menu with delicious choices. Start off with some panfired chive pancakes and crispy fried chicken wings. Peashoot and soya sauce noodles were average but the seafood congee claypot paired with the hometown style stir fried vermicelli was awesome for a cold winter’s day. Will return.

Fast service, delicious housemade dumplings and pot-stickers, simple interior decor.
Despite being busy, we were served quickly. The hot and sour soup was rich and delicious. The pot-stickers were so perfect! – crunchy and very hot. The won ton soup was mild with lackluster broth, but the spicy Sichuan dumplings were terrific and flavorful.

SF Chinatown’s busiest Cantonese restaurant. Probably the Bay’s best wontons. Expect a line from opening on weekends. Leave your number and walk about, but have a member of your party stay near the counter lest they call your name and you miss it! Service is brisk. No-frills environment. Chrysanthemum tea is served hot on the house. $30/pax for a full full sharing meal for 6 of us. Try their pan fried dumplings (生煎包) and their rice rolls with fried dough (炸两)if you haven’t!

Ok Wow!! A surprisingly brilliant experience in San Francisco’s Chinatown! Not only was the atmosphere fantastic – we had a view of the fast pace kitchen, the service was perfectly fast and the food was some of the best Chinese dishes I’ve had yet. We had the gluten-free rice rolls with beef and another with shrimp. The green beans were the best we’ve ever had yet and a Chinese restaurant and the salt and pepper calamari were not gluten-free but they sure were delicious!
