I really wanted to like this place but the food was ALL mediocre, at best, with the only redeeming quality being excellent portion sizes.
I had General Tsos Chicken. They offered a heat scale of 1-5. I chose 4. It could be my mistake, as I assumed this was supposed to be 2nd hottest. It wasn’t even as hot as “normal” General Chicken I’ve had at many other places. In fact, I wouldn’t have called it spicy in any way. The product LOOKED great, with good color, red and green peppers and a few water chestnuts. However, it was bland and nearly tasteless, with the dominant flavor being that of stale fry oil.
We also had Chicken and Broccoli. It didn’t even LOOK good. The chicken was pale white, with no discernible sauce or flavor. The broccoli looked good, nice bright green, but was equally flavorless.
Our third dish was Sweet and Sour Chicken. The sauce was good, nice color and consistency with the expected bite. However, the chicken was a mixed bag. Some of it was meaty and delicious, with just enough batter and crunch. Unfortunately, most of it was very tough and more batter than chicken, over cooked and much too crunchy.
We also had Sesame Chicken. Like the General Tso, it LOOKED great. The color was nice, there was plenty of sesame seeds and the portion size was excellent. Unfortunately, it too was nearly flavorless. The Sesame Seeds offering just enough additional flavor to (almost, but not quite) cover that same stale fry oil taste.
The Pork Fried Rice was decent, but with little or no meat pieces.
The “Egg Rolls” were actually more like Spring Rolls, but they were good… as Spring Rolls.
The best product, by far, was the Pork Lo Mein. It was flavorful and the meat was more than generous.
Our meal, to feed 5 adults and a 3 yr old came to ~$65. This isn’t unreasonable, but for the quality it certainly is. Unfortunately, we’ll have to stick with the 2 Chinese places in Delta… neither does everything well, but if we order some things from each, we can get quality all around.
