Hong Mei Buffet

The food on the buffet is almost always hot and fresh and there’s plenty of variety. The people are nice. Many that I’ve spoken to during our many visits over the years have trouble understanding if you need to as a question. On a previous trip I tried asking if any of the sauce options for the grill do not have sugar, and the nice cook lady did not know or understand. Today I ordered a couple soups to go when we arrived so they’d be ready before we were done eating, and they never came to the table. I thought they’d be up front, but the nice lady up front had not asked for them to be made “but they’re quick, just 3-5 minutes.” Any minutes are hard when you’re on your own with two children so it would have been nice if they’d been ready. But regardless, the people are nice and the food is good. We won’t stop coming just for any of these misunderstandings! My kiddos also like the ice cream on the way out 🙂

I’ll start off by saying something nice…the service was good. The food, however, was mostly nasty! Special ordered crab legs were fishy and tasted old. Sweet and sour chicken had not texture and just dissolved in my mouth. Sushi was okay but the cream cheese did not taste fresh…kind of tangy. Fried donuts were very good. Overall, it was not worth it. Will not come back. Oh yeah, and the carpet needs to be cleaned cause it really smells bad. So much in fact that my stomach was turning. Hope I don’t get sick!!!

All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. It’s a great place for family or low-key date. We ate at 3 pm, and fresh food came out at 4 pm. So the chicken buffet items were a bit chewy and dry. Everything else was great.
They need a cleaner ladies’ bathroom.

Price is too high for the quality of the food. Every option on the sushi bar was fake “krab” meat. The main selection was exactly what you’d expect from your typical “Chinese buffet”; the items that are usually just reheated frozen food were consistent but the items usually made in house were not. Even for buffet food, it was lacking, which would be fine at a more reasonably priced establishment. But if you price yourself at the higher end of buffet style dining, your food needs to be better than the low side of reasonable expectations for such places.

I enjoy Chinese Buffets usually, but this place was was really poor. Food tasted bad, everything was dirty and it smelled like a gas station bathroom. When we are talking about seafood (which a person could easily become sick) you hope for at least clean…. but Sushi tasted like dirt and shrimp had that funky taste when they probably haven’t been refrigerated properly. There are much better options available in Charlotte for a Chinese Buffet experience. Try if you want, but you will be disappointed.

Very good food, flavor and taste. great variety and good prices. The place has a good and elegant decoration.

I give it only 4 stars because of the 3 that attended us, only one, the waitress, gave us a smile. The one that received us and the one that seems in charge did not smile. It is not only having a good price and a good product, it is also finding a smile.

At the exit the counter girl laughed to say goodbye but the first impression is what counts!

I would go again but expecting a better welcome.

I ate here once before and it was ok. I just ate here today and it was terrible. There was only one item on the whole buffet that was hot(pot roast) everything else on it was room temp to Luke warm. The egg drop soup would have been good if it was hot and also that Italian chicken wings were super tasty but again room temp. All the staff acted like they wanted to be somewhere else. We went to get a second plate to see if we could find something hot food and all our silverware and water was gone. Like they wanted us out of there asap. I will never darken this doorway again. Unless you like room temp food that for the most part is terrible stay away from this place. You have been warned.

I took my 13 yr. son there for lunch. After we were seated. I asked the waitress for a menu so my son could order his fried rice from it instead of getting the buffet. She brought the menu over with another woman who asked ” why my son would order off the menu instead of having the buffet?” I had to explain to her that my son normally doesn’t eat a lot of food during a meal and the buffet would be a waste of money when he could take the fried rice that he couldn’t finish home to eat later. She looked shocked. After we ate and I went to pay for our meals , I noticed that they charged me just about the same price for his fried rice as what I had to pay for my buffet. I don’t care to go back since there are other places that have a cheaper menu and buffet.
