I am sharing my personal experience regarding a disturbing and discriminatory incident that occurred on Sunday, August 31st at Hong Luck Restaurant, located at Route 2221 VETERANS HWY in Levittown, PA.
My family and I spent over $100 at this establishment. After returning home, we realized that our order was incorrect. I encouraged my daughter to return to the restaurant to politely inform the owner of the mistake. Rather than providing an apology or offering customer service, the owner chose to call the Middletown Police Department. Shockingly, the owner falsely reported that five Black individuals were armed and threatening them.
Shortly thereafter, approximately six Middletown police cars arrived at the scene. One officer, a white female who was heavyset, aggressively yelled at my son, ordering him out of the vehicle. This response was not only unwarranted, but it also placed my son’s life in danger. I am grateful that the situation did not escalate further and that my son’s life was spared.
This experience has left my family shaken and deeply concerned about the ongoing discrimination and racial profiling in our community. No family should have to fear for their safety simply because of the color of their skin.
I respectfully request that this matter be thoroughly investigated. I also urge both the restaurant and the Middletown Police Department to address issues of racial bias and to commit to fair, respectful treatment of all community members.
With my Criminal Justice degree and a certificate in Victim Advocacy, I am prepared to rise to the challenge and do whatever it takes to play a role in dismantling systemic racism
Service attentive and friendly.
Old school Tiki theme and atmosphere. Food was classic american style chinese , well prepared with generous portions.
Would recommend.
My 12th birthday I begged my mom to have their takeout for dinner and watch TV while eating at home, because we only ever ate in restaurant and I always wanted to be a ‘normal American family’ lol. The takeout at the time included complimentary oodon tea bags, fried wontons bags, every sauce they seemingly could think of, they had no idea it was my birthday but it was so above and beyond for takeout, even at the time.
I miss this restaurant equally as much as the Thai place in Penndel closer to the train tracks, and I recommend it to anyone I meet who’s visiting from my hometown.
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover! The food and service were terrific! They just have this odd Chinese/ tiki bar thing going on and the place is outdated but who cares you’re there to eat. They make sure your glass is never empty and that the fried noodles are always full. I got the sesame chicken combo that came with an egg drop soup that was really good. The food came out fast and tasted super fresh. The fried rice didn’t need anything, it was very flavorful and tasty. The chicken was crispy with actual chicken in it not gristle like so many other places. Boneless spare ribs were also delicious. My wife took me and our boys here and everything was good. If your looking for a new, good and well priced quality Chinese spot Don’t hesitate to stop here.
