I’ve been dining at this restaurant for over 40 years, my family started taking me there as a child, for our weekly Friday night dinning out and it remains my favourite Chinese restaurant by far. Angela, the owner, has been there throughout this entire time, which says everything about the consistency and care behind the place.
The service is always excellent—staff are friendly, helpful, and the service is fast. They still serve you the first dish, which is a lovely traditional touch you don’t see much anymore.
The food is outstanding and quite simply the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. The Mongolian lamb has always been my favourite, although more recently I’ve been choosing the Himalayan lamb for its extra kick of spice. The special fried rice is also delicious and a must-have.the salt
And pepper king prawns are to die for.
The décor is traditional, but that’s not what keeps me coming back. It’s the incredible food, the warm service, and decades of consistently great experiences.

Had dinner here whilst in Newport. Walked in and we were able to get seats but there were only two of us.
The service is a bit slow and disorganised but the staff were very nice and friendly. Initially got our order wrong but luckily we were able to see what the staff was writing down before she walked off.
The food came on a timely manner and they were all delicious. I know some people find that they taste similar to each other, but the menu is also very extensive. Sometimes there are the same ingredients but different meat. So I think it depends on what you select.
For drinks – cocktails are not their forte so I would suggest just having wine or other drinks that don’t have to be mixed and made.
No problem with the bill. Will be happy to dine here again.

Very good food with many choices! Loved the authenticity of this restaurant’s decor and food. We also enjoyed that they were not afraid to add an adventurous section which veered from traditional choices. Don’t miss this gem of a restaurant in Newport!

A good Chinese restaurant on the further end of the Northern Beaches! Wild.
We came here mid week at about 5pm for a nice meal. We had san choy bow, lamb, dimmies, fried rice, prawn toast and others.
Don’t expect a hatted restaurant or a Michelin star, but this place is charming and is a good time.
Service and food were good.

Had a take away from this old favourite restaurant in Newport and it was just absolutely delicious ! We were so impressed and very much enjoyed our Chinese take away which we had not had in a long time .

Keep in mind that we are local and have had take away and eaten in many times over the years

Terrible dish in a stodgy soup like liquid that the 3 of us tried and went straight into the bin
Sizzling king prawns with optional garlic
Again in stodgy soup like sauce with bottle garlic and lots of onion and carrots
Had not been sizzled or even fried well at point of cooking
Prawns definitely not king and bulk frozen
Dish in bin again
Prawn toast not bad not great
Spring rolls not bad not great
Special fried rice probably the highlight of the meal
For some reason we received a short soup this was okay
Also asked for a chilli and soy side sauce it had absolutely zero spice effect
Tonight it was like the chefs had decided to just pack it in and not give a shit
I think we will go back to sea star

Just tried this place for our first time since living in the area for 20 years. I’m so glad we did it’s great ! Old school Australia Chinese vibes, which is such a nice throw back to our childhoods. You can alter many dishes to be vegetarian if you wish, they are very flexible. The lady working has worked there for almost 50 years ! And she’s great at her job. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes. Apologies the only photo I have is half way through the meal.

Yum, we had Mongolian lamb, sweet-and-sour pork, honey chicken and special fried rice. It was all amazing! Cooked perfectly and tasted delicious.. felt like there was a party going on in my mouth beautiful people and amazing service thank you for dinner
