I had a very quiet and comfortable Sunday lunch here. The environment is clean. Generous portion of wonton is slightly overpriced for someone coming from Hong Kong, but it’s good.

Open 7 days a week . Plenty of parking .
Old school hole in the wall place. Lately their tossed (dry) noodle has been on point again. Also their roast duck, and pig feet are winners!

Two co-workers and I walked up to the Chinese Cultural Plaza on Beretania and River Street to try a new Taiwanese restaurant. Alas, it was packed so we walked around looking for an alternative. On the River Street side, we stumbled onto Hong Kong Noodle House. We used to come here for duck noodle every now and then a long time ago.

Our server brought us water in paper cups (??) and menus. It was an extensive menu for a small restaurant; two of us ordered the tossed noodles ($15) with beef tendon while the third member of our group asked for the tossed noodles with beef tendon and pig’s feet ($18).

Our food came out quickly, on paper plates. The soup that accompanies tossed noodles came in a shallow plastic container, like you would get when you buy a quarter pound of poke. We wondered why paper plates and cups; that must increase their costs. The only thing I could think of was staffing. It seemed to be a two-person operation.

I tried the noodles first … they were salty. My tablemate suggested dipping the noodles into the soup. I thought that wouldn’t work because the soup was also salty. However, that did work, but it made the noodles softer. My tablemates thought the noodles were overcooked; mine were okay until I dipped them to “rinse off the salt”. Conversely, the tendon was fine as was the pigs feet.

Our tab was $50, we left $60 and walked out feeling unsatisfied. My co-workers ended up buying a croissant at Ocean Side Bakery on the way back to our office. We can safely drop Hong Kong Noodle House off our list of places to eat.

Not sure why the Google site says “temporarily closed” and neither do the owners.
Called to make sure and they answered the phone.
Got our favorite dish – noodles with stewed beef, ginger and green onions, soup on side. Perfectly done!

So as of 09 NOV 2025 at 12:30PM, they were very much open for business.

I tried to suggest an edit to say they had reopened but Google said there was an error with my entry.

Great little find in Honolulu’s Chinatown. Little Mom and Pop place. Pop cooked, Mom served. No atmosphere. Great food

Wonton and beef stew noodle soup, I’m from Hong Kong and I can say the Wonton is on point, it mimicked the texture and flavors successfully, tho the noodle could be cooked better because it’s kinda soft, the al dente of traditional egg noodles should be firmer.
The staff are super nice, she also speaks Cantonese !!

It’s a small restaurant, but they accommodate for bigger parties. Ee had the roast duck with rice, tossed noodles, and soup! It was amazing. Our girls loved everything they had. Excellent customer service and lovely people.

I have loved this place since I was a child, nothing has changed, just the owners, but still the best people! I eat here at least 3 times while I’m home!

Customer service was great. They accept credit cards and the food was filling and very delicious. We had noodles with roast duck and shrimp, a side of roast duck and a side of green vegetable. Having jasmine tea to drink for starters was a nice touch!

I love how it is hole in the wall. And it’s quite hard to find and hidden. As well parking is terrible lol.
.
Parking basically street parking. I found parking across the street with a handicap spot. The parking is terrible and have to make a few circles to find one.
.
How to order? Basically order anything you see on the menu. If they have it they can mix and match to your liking. The problem is I wanted beef tendon, mom wanted the pig feet, and we both want noodles skinny kind and won ton. But we don’t want to order too much as we are doing back to back food experiences. Mind you not we already went to 3 back to back foodie spots lol. At this point we just trying out a new spot.
.
So we got a plate of skinny noodle tossed with beef tendon and pig feet. Also a plain won ton soup.
.
Won ton – just a dozen of won ton and plain broth. The Won ton has a bouncy texture to the meat. The shrimp was bouncy too. The flavor was authentic with the dry fish powder in it.
.
Beef tendon and pigs feet is nothing special with flavor more just for the texture.
.
Noodles – as soon my chop sticks end touches it I knew it didn’t pass my authentic bougie chinese texture for bouncy. The noodle was clumped together and was not bouncy slippery texture. It wasn’t bad or good just meh like still missing the texture. The love and sweat is put into making it tho. I really appreciate that. The Chef did a great job just my personal preference.
.
Hot chili oil is amazing tho. It has a nice kick and was spicy. It went well with everything. I loved it and it was memorable. I love the condiments on the table with the hot muster and white peppers and chili paste and etc.
.
Overall I had a wonderful experience. It was great to take mama to her own food when she grew up in hkg. I know the authentic of hkg won ton noodles and when I mentioned the dry fish powder in the won ton, the owner knew I know how to eat and no further questions asked lol. It was funny to everyone that a ABC knows his won ton seriously. Thanks for reading and hope this helps. Have a yelptastic day.
