Honey 1 BBQ – Chicago, Illinois | Review & What to Eat
How right it is that all of Honey 1’s barbecue meats come with soft white bread. Of itself, the bread bores. As a sop for sauce, it earns everlasting gratitude.

I tried for the first time today. There were a few good pieces that was tolerable if you hungry on the top but under that were dried up tough pieces that were not able to be eaten. Very disappointing. The order was about 17.00 for a large. Never again!!!! The barely order of fries were ok..but go somewhere else!

Food was phenomenal. I got the rib tips and sausage combo and they were juicy and tender. The tips had a nice crust on them. My wife was a little bummed because they were out of catfish, but she did like the perch. The fried okra was perfectly battered and crispy. I would have like some salt on the fries and okra but that is barely worth noting. If you are looking for good BBQ in the area, this is definitely one of the best places.

Yeahhhhh they snapping up in there!! I ordered an extra large tip and link combo and a small potato salad which totaled about $27. That size tip feeds about 3-4 people. It was exceptional….DO YOU HEAR ME! I got sauce on the side. I hateeee bbq sauce but theirs is a sweet and spicy mix of deliciousness! The tips were tender and the links were lightly charred and delicious as well. I highly recommend them! Forget Alice’s!!! This place is fresh and fast!!!!!

I FINALLY made it to Honey’s and ima run it back! Food was fast and fye! Tip n link combo was DELISH! The link was cut up and that threw me off but I quickly got over it, ya know? And u BETTER get the okra. It’s sooo good. Oh yea. How could I forget the chicken wings? They were good too. I have nothing bad to say about this place…seriously. do t forget to bring that good, old fashioned CASH!

This place is very much like the old school BBQ joints of my youth. Waking in is a small area to place your order through a small window with a slide in screen separation. This place accepts cash only, but there is an ATM onsite. Their menu selection is limited, but when you specialize in BBQ, not much is needed. I chose an extra large order of rib tips, with the BBQ sauce on the side. This BBQ is the REAL DEAL. Wood smoked, not boiled, with extra large servings (despite choosing the extra large helping). Well worth the price (which in and of itself is reasonable).

First time here, overall the experience was good. The meat was super tender, chicken and shrimp was seasoned but didn’t care for the sauce or the fries.

Went today 7/4/23 the 4th of July. You would think the food would be fresh and they were extremely busy but it wasn’t. Those 12 fries were old as dust and the ribs were burnt, none of the membrane was removed. We bought 2 large tips, this was my first and last visit!

The tips have always been good and tender and tasty. The customer service is great, but whoever cooks in the back won’t fulfill the request to cut in small pieces.

When I first started going to Honey ! about 5 years ago, it became hands down my favorite barbeque place on the south side. But recently it has really fallen off. I waited before writing this review because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. All restaurants have bad days. But this is the 3rd time in a row I’ve went to Honey 1 and the food was disgusiting. The rib tips were as tough as nails, to the point where i couldn’t even finish them, and the fries were obviously laying around all day. When the safest part of the meal is the coleslaw? Then you’ve got problems. Whoever they have cooking those ribs right now should be fired.

I literally drive past at least a dozen other bbq places to go to this one. Get the tip and link combo with the sauce on the side plus an extra bottle of sauce. Straight fire
