Well-seasoned Chicago BBQ, but packaging needs improvement

Honey-1 BBQ is a solid option for classic Chicago-style BBQ, especially if you enjoy well-seasoned meats and generous portions. The rib tips were tender and cooked well, with good overall flavor.

The seasoning was definitely there, but I personally was hoping for a bit more smokiness in the meat. The sauce was fine and did the job, though it didn’t stand out as especially memorable compared to other BBQ spots, it was just okay for me.

One major downside was the packaging. Unfortunately, it was very sloppy, which was a big turnoff especially since we were traveling from Chicago back to Michigan. Proper, secure packaging really matters when food is meant to travel, and this experience made that part disappointing.

The restaurant has a classic neighborhood BBQ vibe, service was efficient, and the food was hot and filling. Overall, this is a dependable BBQ stop with good seasoning, but better packaging and a bit more smoke would significantly improve the experience.

Still worth trying if you’re exploring BBQ in Chicago, but keep the travel factor in mind.

Meat was not tender or hot, had a large combo tip/link. They cut the link into small pieces (not use to that. Sauce was good but the food was not hot (barley warm). I called my order in and was there in 15 min.

The bbq rib tips are good, not salty and the sauce isn’t overpowering. My only issue is depending on what time of day you get here, some items may not be available so you should call first.
Second visit:
I went back a second time and ordered a large rib tip this time and a large baked beans, got all the way home and the baked beans were the small size and the rib tips had the same amount as the small rib tips I had ordered on my first time there. If you patronize this place, just order the small tips and small baked beans because that’s what you get bo matter what size you order. Save some money.

Gross! I can’t believe people used to recommend this food to me. It must be another Honey 1 spot because there is no way this is the restaurant I heard about. The sauce was disgusting and spicy, fries looked and tasted old and leave a bad taste in your mouth. I don’t even know how to describe the sauce because it would be disrespectful to Chicago to call it mild sauce. This is probably the worst barbecue I’ve ever had in my life. Honestly, do not waste your money going here. You will be disappointed like me. I should’ve stuck to my other options that I’ve had before and know is good. Wilma’s or Chicago Pit Stop.

Food was phenomenal. I got the rib tips and sausage combo and they were juicy and tender. The tips had a nice crust on them. My wife was a little bummed because they were out of catfish, but she did like the perch. The fried okra was perfectly battered and crispy. I would have like some salt on the fries and okra but that is barely worth noting. If you are looking for good BBQ in the area, this is definitely one of the best places.

SAUCYYYY!! Food was BOMB DIDDY! Tender rib tips with flavorful mouthfuls! Plenty of sauce for the tips fries and bread! Even the leftovers were just as delicious! I would have preferred my slices of bread on the bottom of my tips, just a simple suggested for next time I will voice. Service was awesome! Quick & sufficient ready in 10mins for pickup! The ambiance was there. Cozy and friendly of course, and with comfy seating for your wait. place had great customer service! Check ’em out!

We had high hopes for this place…we really did, but was sorely DISAPPOINTED!
After seeing a post by Foxcito on social media, we decided to try.
Got home, unwrapped the ribs, looked good but lifted them up…
*fries underneath, TOTALLY SOAKED and swimming in bbq sauce.
*sides: baked beans, (lukewarm), tasted like they just opened a can of Walmart Great Value baked beans.
*Coleslaw, no flavor
*potato salad, ok
And the star of the show…THE RIBS. We ordered a full slab. Not meaty at all, it like they cut off some of the meat maybe to sell and use it for tips or something else. Somewhat tough but hands down Very dry and tasted like old reheated ribs soaked in an enormous amount of bbq sauce to cover the dryness. Not even hot, just like the baked beans. I was upset cause we did have high hopes for this place. After we both ate 2 bones, we had threw away our WHOLE MEAL in the trash! $50 wasted.

The food was atrocious! A small amount given with expensive cost. The quality was below minimum. Rib tips were cut paper thin…very hard on out and inside…and they gave me half a link chopped up good enough for a cat! A small link rib tip combo was 18.99 and it was not worth it. I could have brought a slab of baby back ribs and a pack of links from the grocery store for cheaper and better quality and quantity. The barbecue was the worst I’ve had in my LIFE! Save your money DO NOT GO HERE!
