This is really a hidden gem, best dumplings I’ve had in a long time. All dumplings are made by hand and are very delicious. Seeing is believing, and I saw the lady making the dumplings. I ordered wonton soup, which was very tasty. My wife ordered steamed dumplings that was delicious, and I ordered the fried dumplings. My wife also ordered Ube steamed buns . The pickled cucumbers wasn’t spicy, but was flavorful. ( I can’t eat a lot of spicy foods) every once in awhile is ok. I took home my fried dumplings some of my wife’s steamed dumplings and the pickled cucumbers for an add on for our evening meal. From where I was sitting I could see Folsom Dam. Traveling 10 miles for some delicious dumpling was worth the distance.

Hometown Dumpling is hands down one of the best places I’ve ever eaten at. The dumplings are perfectly handmade, bursting with fresh ingredients, and cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I especially loved the pork and chive dumplings and the spicy wontons, which had just the right amount of kick. The service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, you can taste the love and tradition in every bite. Highly recommend to anyone craving authentic, delicious dumplings!

UPDATE (2025):
Legit dumpling restaurant in Folsom! The restaurant is tucked near Mobil gas station at the busy intersection of Folsom-Auburn Rd. & Folsom Lake Crossing. The older lady made all the dumpling by hand and the guy cooked our order fresh.
– pork chives prawn boiled dumpling: my favorite dumplings among other items. The dumpling was hefty with lots of filling. The meat was well seasoned (not too salty). The skin was chewy and soft.
– pork celery boiled dumpling: they had lots of filling inside the dumpling. The pork was meaty and delicious.
– pork sauerkraut steam dumpling: it was ok because I couldn’t really taste the sauerkraut.
– pork shrimp mushroom steam dumpling: the filling was delicious! It had umami flavor and the meat was well seasoned.
– XLB: good. The soup inside XLB was delicious and the meat was well seasoned. The skin was a bit thicker to accommodate the soup and filling inside but it was soft and chewy.
– fried spring roll: it was okay. The skin was crispy.
– bbq pork bun: good. The bun was soft and the filling was tasty. My kiddo’s favorite
– pita burger: it was ok but not our favorite. The pita bread was soft and the burger was ok.
2023 REVIEW:
We were in the area and happened to see this shop. We only ordered boba as we already had lunch. We ordered from the screen and we got our drink
– taro milk tea with mango jelly: a bit too watery but it was good as the drink wasn’t too sweet. The mango jellies were sweet and good.
– durian smoothies with boba: it was delicious and tasted fresh. The bobas were chewy.
Overall, it was a good decent boba place.

Were there with my wife. Tried Wonton soup, steamed dumplings with pork, shrimp and mushrooms as well as with lamb and radish. Everything was delicious. Guys made it fast and tasty. Recommend 100%. Looking forward to visiting them with our children soon.

Great place the food was delicious! I ended up waiting about 15 minutes for the food to be brought out on a Saturday night. I even asked for soup on the side and they gave me some without charging me. Although the soup was a little bland the place was amazing
